In early July, many households using electricity in Hanoi and many northern provinces were surprised to receive electricity bills for June that were much higher than usual. On forums, many accounts commented that electricity bills increased by 20-50% even though the weather was not as hot and sunny as last month. Many people said that their consumption in June did not fluctuate significantly, but their electricity bills increased abnormally.
According to the explanation of the Hanoi Electricity Authority, due to the annual increase in electricity consumption during the summer months, combined with the adjustment of electricity prices. In particular, the summer vacation of students coincides with the peak of hot weather, leading to the continuous use of air conditioners and electrical equipment day and night, the total electricity bill for June that households have to pay is higher than the previous month.
Instead of waiting until the end of the month to know the electricity bill and electricity consumption, people can proactively monitor and control their daily electricity usage by using the electricity consumption management feature on the customer care application of the power corporations in the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN).
There are currently 4 customer care applications depending on the area of use: EVNHANOI (Hanoi), EVNNPC CSKH (North - except Hanoi), EVNCPC CSKH (Central) and EVNSPC CSKH (South).
People download the appropriate application (app) from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), then log in using the customer code printed on the monthly electricity bill or electricity bill message.

EVNCPC's customer service application has information on checking electricity consumption index (Photo: EVN).
After logging in, go to "Electricity Consumption", "Meter Index" or "Load Chart" to view daily electricity usage. Data is automatically updated from the electronic meter, clearly showing each consumption level and comparing it with previous days.
This application can also be used to look up information such as meter reading schedule, electricity collection points, temporary power outage schedule, electricity consumption, electricity payment information, bill lookup; receive notifications such as electricity bill notifications, temporary power outage notifications, other notifications...
People can also set their own consumption thresholds to suit their needs on the app. When the threshold is exceeded, the app will alert people to adjust their electricity usage behavior. This continuous update helps people be more proactive in adjusting their electricity usage habits, avoiding being passive when their electricity bills suddenly increase.
