Thailand's leading sports daily Siam Sport wrote: "Vietnamese football announced a long-term plan, aiming for the 2034 World Cup. They are very serious, wanting to develop the entire system."

On July 5, the plan for developing Vietnamese football until 2030, with a strategic vision towards 2045, was approved. In this plan, notable goals include entering the top 10 in Asia, reaching the quarter-finals of the 2031 Asian Cup, and reaching the 2034 World Cup finals...
Thailand's Siam Sport newspaper commented further on the project and plan for developing Vietnamese football: "The project of Vietnamese football focuses on creating a sustainable football system, through community participation, according to modern management methods."
“Vietnam wants to take advantage of the country's economic development to develop football, while making the most of the potential of young people and human resources working in the field of physical education and sports.
The roadmap just outlined reflects the long-term vision of Vietnamese football. They seriously want to step into the world arena. In particular, they are preparing to develop at all levels, from the grassroots to the top level of the national team. Vietnamese football wants to create a clear change in the future", are still the lines written in Siam Sport.

Meanwhile, the ASEAN Football website, which specializes in Southeast Asian football, shared: “The Vietnam Football Development Plan to 2030, with a strategic vision towards 2045, is a plan that outlines a series of aspirational goals for the men's team, the U23 team and the Vietnam women's team.”
“In addition to the goals of the national team, there are also notable goals for the Vietnam U23 team, such as winning a medal at the 33rd SEA Games in 2025, winning a gold medal at the 34th SEA Games in 2027 and a gold medal at the 35th SEA Games in 2029, reaching the quarterfinals of the 2030 Asian Games, and participating in the 2028 or 2032 Olympics.
On the women's team side, the Vietnamese women's football team strives to win gold medals in 2025, 2027 and 2029, reach the semi-finals of the 2026 and 2030 Asian Games, reach the quarter-finals of the 2030 Asian Cup, participate in the 2027 and 2031 World Cup, participate in the 2028 or 2032 Olympics, and enter the top 5 in Asia," ASEAN Football emphasized.
Regarding the above projects and plans, Vietnamese football will not indulge in naturalizing foreign players like some football teams in the region, for both men's and women's football.
VFF's view is that we will develop based on domestically trained human resources, using naturalized players at a moderate and controlled level.
