In a new court filing, Angelina Jolie has mocked her ex-husband Brad Pitt after he claimed to have built a successful wine business in France on his own.
July 10, Page Six Angelina Jolie has filed new court documents in her year-long legal battle over Château Miraval, the joint estate she and Brad Pitt bought for about $28 million in 2008.
Attorney representing actress Salt filed the complaint on July 7, responding to Brad Pitt's June lawsuit accusing his ex-wife of secretly selling shares of her winery to Russian tycoon Yuri Shefler in retaliation.
In the document Page Six Angelina Jolie mocked her ex-husband for being "ridiculous" for claiming he was the one who built the business.
“Pitt is an actor, not a winemaker. He sells illusions, not dirt and grapes. In the years he was supposed to be building his business, he made and appeared in dozens of movies, not to mention countless commercials, jetted around the world for movie premieres, and attended Hollywood parties,” the 48-year-old actress wrote.
The mother of six also laughed at Brad Pitt's claim to be a farmer in an interview with Wine Spectator in 2014.
“He visited the vineyard to see the French labourers at work – the real success factor for the business, but Pitt was not a winemaker or a grape grower,” she stressed.
The complaint also accuses the actor of Bullet Train wrecked businesses, spending millions of dollars of profits on vanity projects, including renovating a recording studio.
Angelina criticized her ex-husband for behaving like a “petulant child” after she sold her stake in the vineyard in 2021, while owing her company $350 million.
Brad Pitt's representative has not commented on the new complaint from Angelina Jolie.
Brad Pitt's June lawsuit said he and the beauty Maleficent have a binding contract, which states that they jointly own the winery and can only sell shares with the other party's consent. The actor emphasized that he did not agree to let his ex-wife sell her shares in 2021.
Brad also accused Anglina of doing nothing to help run the factory, despite being the owner, instead leaving him to put in the money and effort, and reap the benefits. “At the time of their separation, Pitt’s investment exceeded Jolie’s by nearly $50 million,” the lawsuit reads.
