At 7:09 a.m. on July 14, the Kinh Ngu Trang - Kinh Ngu Trang Nam field development project opened 4 wells on the WHP-KTN rig to receive the first oil flow (First Oil) and the CPP-KNT rig received the oil flow at 10:34 a.m. on the same day, after which the mixture will be transported to the MSP-10 rig for processing through an underground pipeline of more than 38km long.
The Kinh Ngu Trang - Kinh Ngu Trang Nam Field Development Project, located in Block 09-2/09, was completed one day ahead of schedule, ensuring quality and making a practical contribution to the goal of increasing output and ensuring national energy security.

The project is operated by the Vietsovpetro joint venture, with the participation of the Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Corporation (PVEP) and AO Zarubezhneft. The scope of work includes: construction of the central platform CPP-KNT, the lightweight platform WHP-KTN; installation of intra-field and inter-field pipelines and underground cables; conversion of items at platforms MSP-10, MSP-9 and BK-15.
This is a large-scale, technically complex mine development project, consisting of many bid packages requiring high technical standards.
After more than 33 months of implementation from detailed design, procurement and construction under many difficult conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic; armed conflicts in the world as well as harsh weather and technical challenges in deep water, the project was completed ahead of schedule and met strict safety and technical standards.

The construction and testing process of the project items were implemented synchronously and closely, ensuring quality, safety and progress. Vietsovpetro's acceptance council conducted direct acceptance at the rigs: MSP-10 on July 4; CPP-KNT and WHP-KTN on July 11.
The assessment results showed that the systems were ready and safe for commercial operation. Immediately after that, the officers, engineers and technical workers of the Vietsovpetro Operator at the KNT, KTN, MSP-10, BK-15 platforms urgently implemented the final preparations in a methodical, synchronous and timely manner to put the systems into operation.

Up to the time of First Oil, the project has recorded more than 6.6 million hours of absolutely safe work, without any accidents or incidents - an outstanding achievement, demonstrating the professionalism, discipline and high sense of responsibility of Vietsovpetro workers.
In the context of declining production output at Block 09-1 and neighboring areas, putting the Kinh Ngu Trang - Kinh Ngu Trang Nam project into commercial exploitation on schedule will not only help Vietsovpetro increase and maintain production output of over 3 million tons/year but also contribute to ensuring energy security and affirming national sovereignty at sea through strategic oil and gas cooperation in the Cuu Long and Nam Con Son basins.

The first oil stream from the Kinh Ngu Trang - Kinh Ngu Trang Nam rig is not only the result of millions of hours of hard work but also clearly demonstrates the technological mastery and the spirit of solidarity and creativity of the oil and gas workers, which is of strategic significance in effectively exploiting the oil and gas potential in the important southern sea area.
