32 students completed the M'nong gong performance and folk dance class

On the afternoon of December 6, the People's Committee of Lak district held the Closing Ceremony of the class teaching gong performance and xoang dance skills of the M'nong ethnic group in Yang Tao commune (Teaching class).

The teaching class started on October 17, with the participation of 32 students from Chu Van An Secondary School and people who love traditional culture, aged 25 - 55, in Yang Tao commune.

At the Closing Ceremony, the class organizers said that for more than a month, the artisans had taught students gong playing techniques, how to play basic gong pieces, and folk dances of the M'nong people. Thereby,educating students, especially the younger generation, about love, awareness of preserving and promoting the fine traditional culture of their people.

As a result, after more than a month of studying and practicing, the students have mastered the skills of using gong instruments and can play basic gong pieces such as the gong three piece (Gong Pe), the gong bamboo piece (Gong Pro) and practice seasonal dances, often used in most village festivals and ceremonies.

Mr. Lai Duc Dai, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, awarded certificates to the students.

The training class is part of the Project “Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development” under the National Target Program on socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021-2030; aiming to arouse the passion for gong performance, raise awareness, and preserve the national cultural identity among the people. This is also a valuable resource to exploit for tourism, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.
