Born in a village in Pucheng County, Shaanxi Province, China, Dai Di is the daughter of a rural doctor. She studied for her bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry at Northwest University in the 1980s.

In 1994, she received her PhD in biochemical engineering from East China University of Science and Technology. In academia, Dai De is known as the first Chinese woman to have a doctorate in this field.

Instead of staying in Shanghai or going abroad to study and work, Ms. Dai De surprised everyone who knew her by deciding to return to her hometown to teach and do research at Northwestern University.

In 2000, Ms. Dai De and her husband founded the biotechnology company Giant Biogene. In the same year, she invented and patented recombinant collagen technology, creating the foundation for a series of high-end skin care masks. This is the main product line that is very popular with the Giant Biogene company.

In addition, the couple also invested heavily in an aviation materials manufacturing company. According to Chinese media, the total assets of Dai De and her husband as of May 12 actually reached 45.7 billion yuan (about 6 billion USD).

Mr. David Ross Cheriton (74 years old) is a Canadian tutor, computer scientist and businessman. He is currently a professor of computer science at Stanford University (USA).

Mr. Cheriton has a BA in mathematics from the University of British Columbia (Canada), and an MA and PhD in computer science from the University of Waterloo (Canada).

While teaching at Stanford University, Mr. Cheriton met two graduate students, Sergey Brin and Larry Page - the two co-founders of Google. Mr. Cheriton quickly decided to invest 100,000 USD in Brin and Page's project, when the idea was still in its infancy.

Mr. Henry Samueli (70 years old) is an American lecturer, engineer and businessman. He is the co-founder of the semiconductor chip manufacturing corporation Broadcom and also the owner of the Anaheim Ducks hockey team (USA). Mr. Samueli is currently the Chairman of Broadcom Corporation.

He studied at the University of California, Los Angeles (USA). At this school, he received his bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering. After that, he stayed at the school to teach.
