Export of goods through Lao Cai border gate customs increased sharply

(HQ Online) - In February, the export turnover of goods through Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch (Lao Cai Customs Department) continued to grow strongly.

Export activities through Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch were very active in the first two months of the year.

In February, Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch cleared goods with a total turnover of 70.17 million USD, down 71% compared to the previous month (January 2024) but up 20% compared to the same period last year.

Notably, the overall turnover decreased mainly due to a sharp decrease in goods imports, while export activities still maintained remarkable growth.

In February, the export turnover of goods processed at the Branch reached 46.544 million USD, up 6% compared to the previous month and up 73% compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, imports only reached 23.62 million USD, down 42% compared to the previous month and down 26% compared to the same period last year.

In the first two months of the year, Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch cleared goods with a total turnover of nearly 170 million USD, of which exports reached 90.3 million USD and imports reached 79.3 million USD.

Main export items: All kinds of peeled wood, dragon fruit, durian, charcoal. In particular, export turnover increased sharply due to durian, dragon fruit, watermelon, and cassava.

Main import items: Agricultural products, confectionery, fertilizers, machinery and equipment, chemicals, liquefied gas.
