Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Society of Son Dong commune Nguyen Van Tan said that on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27, the commune focused on propagating andeducating revolutionary traditions, patriotism, national pride, dedication and sacrifice of heroic martyrs and those who have contributed to the country, especially carrying out practical activities to care for war invalids, sick soldiers, relatives of martyrs and those who have contributed to the revolution, ensuring social security policies in the commune... Thereby, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors and people in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
In July 2025, Son Dong commune promoted the movements of "Repaying gratitude", "Drinking water, remembering its source", encouraging and caring for the lives of families of people with meritorious services. The commune set a goal of mobilizing the Gratitude Fund to raise 400 million VND; organizing visits and presenting gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and exemplary people with meritorious services; visiting and presenting gifts to people with meritorious services and relatives of martyrs, representatives of martyr worship; organizing a rally to celebrate the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day; cleaning and decorating cemeteries, lighting candles in gratitude at 5 martyr cemeteries in the area; examining, consulting on health care, and providing medicine to policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services in the area...
Implementing Decree No. 176/ND-CP dated June 30, 2025 of the Government in the locality, the People's Committee of Son Dong commune has developed a plan to coordinate and organize guidance on declaring records at 5 locations in the commune, in order to fully collect elderly people from 75 years old to under 80 years old, eligible for social pension benefits to ensure timely implementation of social policies, avoid missing subjects or overlapping benefits, thereby fully implementing social pension benefits for eligible elderly people.
Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Dong Commune Pham Gia Loc assigned specific tasks to the commune's professional agencies and coordinating units and requested departments, branches, units and villages to enhance their sense of responsibility, promote the nation's tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source", "Repaying gratitude", seriously deploy and effectively coordinate the organization of activities to celebrate the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day.
