The University of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) announced that admission will be based on the results of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam and the results of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam.
Dr. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang - Vice Principal of the school said that with the admission method based on the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University, the school takes the expected floor score of 700/1,200 points for the majors.
With the admission method based on the results of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam, the minimum score for the Microchip Design major is calculated based on the total score of the subjects in the admission group, reaching a minimum of 24 points, of which the Math subject reaches a minimum of 8 points. All other majors have a minimum score of 22.5 points.
At Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, the admission method based on the National University of Ho Chi Minh City's competency assessment exam scores is currently one of the admission methods that many candidates are interested in.
According to Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan - Head of the School's Training Department, the minimum score for admission to general training programs is 650/1,200 points. For English-enhanced programs, the minimum score is 600/1,200 points (without coefficients, without priority points, and not applicable to the Law group). For the Law group, the minimum score is 720/1,200 points; at the same time, candidates need to achieve a minimum of 180 points in Vietnamese and 180 points in Mathematics.
For Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, the conversion threshold between admission methods and equivalent admission combinations according to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training , will be announced before July 23, 2025. In particular, the Microcircuit Design Engineering training program (under the Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Technology major) is implemented according to the Decision promulgating the training program standards on semiconductor microcircuits at the undergraduate and master's levels.
With the admission method based on high school exam scores and academic records, the Math subject in the admission combination must be from 8 points or higher, the total score of the subjects in the admission combination must be from 24 points or higher. With the admission method based on the competency assessment test score, the Math subject must be from 240/1,200 points or higher; the total score of the 3 parts of the Math, Scientific Thinking, and English exams must be from 720/1,200 points or higher.
The admission threshold at private universities is at an average level. Except for majors in the Health Sciences sector, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has a threshold of 15 points for the admission method based on high school graduation exam scores and 18 points for the admission method based on academic records, 550/1,200 points for the admission method based on the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test scores and 70/150 points for the Hanoi National University's competency assessment test.
Similarly, Hong Bang International University, Hoa Sen University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance... also set a floor score of 15 for most majors using the method of considering high school graduation exam scores.
Benchmarks may drop
According to admissions experts, the score distribution of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam is considered quite good, creating favorable conditions for university admissions. MSc. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade analyzed that the score distribution of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam shows that the average score of many subjects has decreased significantly compared to 2024, which is expected to affect the standard score for university admissions this year.
Specifically, the average score for English was 5.48, a slight decrease compared to 5.51 in 2024. Literature recorded an average score of 7.00, 0.23 points lower than last year (7.23). Chemistry dropped from 6.72 to 6.06. Notably, Mathematics had the sharpest decrease with an average score of only 4.78, 1.67 points lower than in 2024.
From the above data, many admissions experts predict that for combinations with Math subjects such as A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math, Physics, English), D01 (Math, Literature, English), the standard score for the 2025 high school graduation exam may decrease by 1 - 2 points.
In particular, Mr. Pham Thai Son also predicted that the admission combinations with both Math and English, specifically blocks A01 and D01, the standard scores may decrease more sharply. At universities such as Foreign Trade University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, University of Finance - Marketing, University of Economics - Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University), the standard scores of majors may decrease by 0.5 - 1 point compared to 2024.
At Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, Mr. Son said that the benchmark score in 2025 is expected to be similar or decrease by about 1 point compared to 2024 for majors in economics and trade such as marketing, logistics and supply chain management, business administration, with scores ranging from 22 to 23.
The Tourism and Information Technology majors have benchmark scores about 0.5 points lower than in 2024, expected to be from 20.5 to 21.5. The Law and Economic Law majors are forecast to have benchmark scores from 22 to 22.5. The Chinese Language and English Language majors range from 22 to 23.
At Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan - Head of Training Department said that most of the school's majors are recruiting based on a combination of Math, or both Math and English, so the benchmark scores for these majors this year are expected to decrease significantly. "Except for Law, which is likely to maintain its benchmark score, many majors recruiting based on high school graduation exam scores will decrease, even decrease significantly," said Mr. Nhan.
