Clearly identifying the important role of the health sector, in recent times, Lao Cai has focused on investing in financial resources and issuing specific related policies. Infrastructure has been invested and gradually completed; 100% of public health facilities have been solidly built, modern, and are in good operating condition. Many new facilities have been built and put into use in the period 2020-2025.
Currently, the province has a total of 6,802 hospital beds (GB) in hospitals and general clinics (of which, 6,376 are public GB; 426 are private GB), reaching 41.1 GB/10,000 people. Commune-level health stations basically meet the list according to Circular No. 28/2020/TT-BYT dated 31/21/2020 of the Ministry of Health .
At the meeting, delegates discussed the organization and resources to implement the National Target Program in Lao Cai and anticipated the advantages and difficulties encountered when implementing a two-level local government.

In particular, the focus is on the need for a specific mechanism to attract doctors to work and stay long-term at the health station; provide guidance on the basic design of commune health stations, to have a legal basis for building the need for investment in facilities and equipment for commune health stations after restructuring the organizational apparatus; and prescribe the list of equipment for commune health stations.

Speaking at the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Le Thu Hang, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Finance, Ministry of Health, acknowledged the efforts of the locality in taking care of people's health and developing the grassroots health network, preventing epidemics, reducing birth rates and improving population quality.
At the same time, it is recommended that Lao Cai Department of Health urgently review the participation in projects under the National Target Program on health care, population and development for the period 2026-2035 in accordance with local realities to send to the Ministry of Health for completion and submission to the Prime Minister for approval.
In particular, in order to avoid affecting or interrupting the provision of medical services when implementing the two-level local government organization model, the Lao Cai health sector needs to maintain a stable system of public health service units in the locality to meet the essential needs of local people.

On the same day, the Ministry of Health's working group surveyed the facilities and medical equipment at Cam Con Medical Station, Bao Ha Commune Medical Station, Xuan Ai Medical Station, and An Thinh Medical Station, Van Yen Commune.
