In previous admissions, universities conducted early admissions using methods that did not use high school graduation exam scores. From this year, admissions methods will be conducted simultaneously on the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) system after candidates have their high school graduation exam results.
Preliminary screening for extra points
Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of Training Department - Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, said that this year the school uses 4 admission methods, including the admission method using high school academic results in grade 12 combined with outstanding achievements (if any).
At the end of the preliminary round (507) for candidates with outstanding achievements such as provincial-level excellent students, excellent students for 3 years, students winning science and technology awards, candidates with IELTS certificates, etc., the system of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry recorded nearly 30,000 candidates registering for the preliminary round. From this data, the school will create a scoring formula to add priority points if the students have subjects suitable for the school's admission combination.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education is accepting supporting documents for candidates with IELTS certificates, excellent students at provincial level, excellent students for 3 years, students who won science and technology awards, etc. Dr. Tran Thanh Thuong, Head of Admissions and Student Affairs Department, said that since May, the school has opened an online portal for candidates to submit supporting documents, which will end on July 17. From this data, the school will build a formula to calculate priority bonus points for candidates considering high school transcripts.
In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law will use the admission method combining high school academic results with international language certificates (English, French, Japanese) or the results of the US SAT exam (method 2). MSc. Le Van Hien, Deputy Head of the Training Department, informed that with this method, candidates must have an average score of 6 high school semesters (grades 10, 11 and 12) of 3 subjects in the admission group from 22.5 or higher (this average score is rounded to one decimal place); in which, the academic results of grade 12, the score is not less than 25%. The score of this criterion is converted to the equivalent of "the total score of 3 subjects (in the admission group) in the 2025 high school graduation exam". The equivalent conversion rate was determined by the school right after the Ministry of Education and Training announced statistics on "the correlation between high school graduation exam scores and average high school subject scores".
Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade has also completed the preliminary round of admission based on the school transcript review method. According to Master Pham Thai Son, Director of the school's Admissions and Communications Center, this year the school uses 5 admission methods, including the method of considering high school academic results of grades 10, 11 and 12. The school does not specify priority admission subjects but considers all candidates equally. Therefore, opening the preliminary round is for the school to have initial information, thereby making it easier to determine the benchmark score later.

The Ministry of Education and Training's admission system does not support
From 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm on July 28, the Ministry of Education and Training will open a general admission portal for candidates to register, adjust, and add their wishes. All admission methods will be implemented at the same time.
However, before candidates register for admission on the common system, many schools have opened a portal to receive information to add priority points for students. Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan said that the common admission system only has basic information such as school code, there is no area for candidates to fill in information to get priority points. Because, not all universities use the admission method of considering high school transcripts combined with international foreign language certificates or SAT...
"After candidates register on the system, the Ministry of Education and Training will return the registration results to the school. From these results, the school will add priority points, convert them for the candidates and return them to the Ministry of Education and Training's system," Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan explained. According to him, candidates who do not have priority points for subjects or regions but are excellent students at the provincial level will be given a maximum of 3 points when considering admission by combining academic records with outstanding achievements.
The vice principal of a university in Ho Chi Minh City said that 2025 will be the first year that admission methods will be used simultaneously after the high school graduation exam results are available. Therefore, there will be many cases where candidates insist that they will register for admission after knowing their high school graduation exam scores, paying little attention to the regulations of universities on declaring evidence to receive priority points. This can put them at a disadvantage.
Dr. Tran Thanh Thuong emphasized that candidates who do not submit evidence to receive bonus points within the prescribed time will not receive bonus points, because the school does not have the information to add these points to them.
Important milestones
As planned, on July 16, the Departments of Education and Training will announce exam results and graduation for candidates.
From July 10 to 20, independent candidates can register for an admission account on the system (if they do not have one yet).
From 16 to 17:00 on July 28, the Ministry of Education and Training opened the portal for candidates to register, adjust, and add wishes (unlimited number of times).
From July 29 to 5:00 pm August 5, candidates pay admission fees online according to the number of wishes.
On August 16, the Ministry of Education and Training began recruiting on the system.
From August 17 to 20, the Ministry of Education and Training will filter out fake candidates to ensure that each candidate can only be admitted to one wish.
Before 5:00 pm on August 20, universities will enter admission scores and announce the first round of admission results.
Before 5:00 pm on August 30, candidates must confirm their enrollment online if they wish to attend.
From September 1 to December 2025, schools will continue to organize additional enrollment if there are still quotas.
