The event marks an important step forward in promoting the image of Vietnamese culture and people, while affirming Vietnam's strong determination to protect and promote human rights.
The exhibition demonstrates Vietnam's pioneering role in contributing to global peace, prosperity and respect for human rights, while mobilizing support from the international community for its membership of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term.
Attending the event were representatives of the United Nations Office in Geneva, delegates representing the United Nations Convention Committees, over 20 ambassadors - heads of representative states of the Human Rights Council member states and over 40 delegates representing countries attending the 59th Session.
The exhibition displays vivid artistic photographs, taking viewers to explore the depth of Vietnamese culture and nature, from the majestic beauty of Ha Long Bay, Northwest terraced fields, to heritages such as Hoi An Ancient Town and Cham Towers... reflecting the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, along with the cultural diversity of 54 ethnic groups through costumes, daily activities and unique festivals.
The photos at the exhibition showcase the beauty of Vietnamese culture, while also clearly depicting efforts to ensure basic human rights. Images of religious festivals and rituals affirm the commitment to protecting freedom of belief and religion.
Photos of remarkable achievements in access to education, healthcare and social equality – the results of the Party and State’s policies and international cooperation – received high praise from international delegates. As an active and responsible member of the United Nations, Vietnam has continuously improved its legal framework and implemented priority policies for women, children, people with disabilities and ethnic minorities through free education, comprehensive healthcare and economic development in remote and isolated areas. The exhibition not only honors the achievements but also vividly demonstrates the determination to build a fair, democratic and civilized society, in line with the United Nations’ sustainable development goals.
In the context of the campaign for the Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term, this event creates an important forum to introduce practical efforts while seeking consensus and support from member states and international organizations for Vietnam.
The exhibition received much praise from diplomats and visitors, not only as an art exhibition but also as conveying Vietnam’s strong message about sustainable development and global responsibility; opening up opportunities for the international community to experience a modern Vietnam, deeply integrated, but still preserving its cultural identity and solidarity – the core values that make up the nation’s strength.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Mr. Alain Jourdan - Member of the United Nations Correspondents Association, said that events like this are a testament to Vietnam's participation in the activities of the multilateral system. In the current unstable world situation, Vietnam has shown itself to be a country that protects the multilateral system and demonstrates the importance of places like Geneva, an important place for dialogue, exchange of understanding of cultures and differences, thereby contributing to promoting peace.
