The route is available.
In the project of developing inland waterway tourism to 2030, with a vision to 2045, Da Nang aims for waterway tourists to account for about 15-20% of total guests, and by 2045 increase to 20-25%.
With the above goal, the city determines to form a system of standard ports and wharves, add high-speed boats, yachts, accommodation boats, and develop services associated with rivers.
In addition to the main routes such as Han River - Tran Thi Ly Bridge; Han River - Da Nang Bay; Cu De River - Truong Dinh, the city will expand more waterway transport routes to the island, develop the service system at the wharf, and add high-end and super luxury vehicles.

Han River Port will be invested into an international standard main port, with full amenities such as restaurants, hotels, and entertainment services attached.
The City People's Committee also issued a plan to organize water recreation and entertainment activities in coastal areas and the Han River area, to be implemented from 2025 to 2030, to promote the advantages of marine resources and the Han River to develop diverse types of tourism products, attract domestic and foreign tourists, and expect to contribute positively to local economic development.
On June 11, the Department of Construction announced an invitation for investors and inland waterway transport businesses interested in investing in luxury and modern vehicles to exploit inland waterway tourist transport activities. |
Need for synchronous investment
According to statistics, before the establishment of Da Nang city (new), Da Nang city (old) had ideal conditions for developing inland waterway tourism with 20 businesses operating a total of 28 tourist boats with 16-250 seats.
Next is the rich river system with more than 60km of river, many famous bridges... However, tourism products in this segment are not rich even though tourist demand is very high.

After a survey of the Cam Le river route, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam, General Director of Viet An Group Corporation, proposed a number of solutions to develop the potential of river tourism in Da Nang.
In particular, businesses and investors are encouraged to participate in infrastructure investment such as inland waterway ports and standard rest stops on the Han River, Cam Le River, and Tuy Loan River.
Along with that is the re-enactment of the riverside cultural space, creating a highlight to retain tourists from local cultural values. Finally, it is necessary to complete the dredging of the Co Co River from Ngu Hanh Son ward towards Hoi An to form an inter-regional cultural - ecological tourism route...

Sharing the same opinion, Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of Da Nang Tourism Association emphasized that if Co Co River is dredged, connected to Hoi An or the Tuy Loan and Cu De rivers are developed; Do Toa-Thu Bon rivers... then Da Nang will have a whole waterway ecosystem, not only for sightseeing but also for exploiting ecological, agricultural, cultural and spiritual tourism.
According to Mr. Dung, the waterway tourism ecosystem does not only rely on a 1-hour tour of the Han River as it does now, but needs a synchronous system with restaurant services, craft villages, rest stops, check-in, shopping, etc.
To fully exploit the potential of inland waterway tourism, in addition to removing procedures, Da Nang needs to have a synchronous planning of wharves, riverbeds deep enough for tourist boats to move, and rest stops for tourists must be connected to craft villages, pagodas, scenic spots, etc. Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of Da Nang Tourism Association |

In the context of Da Nang and Quang Nam being united since July 1, the room for developing inland waterway tourism in the new Da Nang city has become many times larger with scenic spots such as Co Co River, Thu Bon River, Dam River, Hoai River, Truong Giang River, etc.
To awaken the tourism potential on the rivers, long-term and meticulous investments are needed. From there, tourists will be retained on their journey to discover the natural beauty and culture of Quang Nam.
