On the evening of March 6, the 2023 World MICE Tourism Awards ceremony took place in Berlin, Germany.
Ho Chi Minh City has been recognized as "Asia's Leading MICE Destination 2023" by the World MICE Award, marking the fourth consecutive year the city has received this prestigious title.
Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism - attended and received the award.
According to the City Department of Tourism, the award is a recognition of Ho Chi Minh City's appeal as a leading destination for the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) industry.
By 2030, Ho Chi Minh City strives to become a leading destination in Asia with the image of a city that is "Open - Youthful - Vibrant - Exciting - Towards the Future".
The award from the World MICE Awards is an important milestone on the way towards this goal.
Many tourism businesses said that MICE tourism is the target customer market, accounting for the largest proportion of their customer structure, becoming the main source of recovery.
Ms. Tran Thi Bao Thu - Marketing and Communications Director of Vietluxtour - said that in the first 3 months of 2024, the company signed many contracts with thousands of customers, increasing the number of customers and revenue by 35% compared to the same period.
Tourists' MICE tourism needs have changed a lot after the COVID-19 pandemic, with more diverse requirements for service types and optimized quality, aiming to maximize the value and convenience of event and conference activities in tour programs.
At the same time, the need to integrate and update technological features into MICE products is also of particular interest to corporate travelers.
Attending the ITB Berlin 2024 International Tourism Fair in Germany, a representative of Saigontourist Group also said that every year, the flow of visitors from Europe and Germany to Vietnam through MICE tourism accounts for an important number.
In 2023, domestic MICE tourism through the airline increased by 10% compared to the same period last year. In addition to the increase in the number of tourist groups, the size of each group also increased significantly in many domestic and foreign MICE tourist groups, the largest of which was a group of 1,000 guests going to Ho Tram, Phan Thiet.
It is forecasted that MICE tourism will remain the fastest growing type of tourism in the coming time, so businesses are still renewing MICE product lines in a diverse and professional direction.
