The information that Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education will add transcript points to candidates when considering admission has received much attention. Accordingly, the school will add from 0.8 to 1.2 points for candidates applying for admission using transcripts from 675 high schools nationwide.
Explaining this issue, Dr. Quach Thanh Hai, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, said that this is a carefully considered option with clear criteria in the school's enrollment plan. The main goal is to prioritize candidates with good input quality, coming from high schools with stable training quality.
Speaking more clearly about the criteria for selecting 675 high schools to add points for students, Mr. Hai said this was the result of synthesizing and analyzing enrollment data over many years.
"We rely on criteria such as: High schools with good quality, schools with high entrance scores for grade 10, actual learning results of students from those schools when enrolling, and some areas that are favorable when studying at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education or suitable for the school's development orientation, school branches to consider adding priority points, etc.," Dr. Quach Thanh Hai analyzed.
This data is collected from the total number of high schools with students registered for admission and enrollment at the school in recent years.
According to him, this decision of the school is not random, but is built on strict evaluation criteria. This helps ensure that candidates who receive extra points are truly worthy and have the potential to study well at the school.
One of the concerns of parents and candidates is whether adding up the transcript scores will create a big difference compared to the high school graduation exam scores, especially in the context that this year's exam score range is predicted to be low.
In response to this question, Dr. Quach Thanh Hai reassured: "Based on the announced high school graduation exam score distribution, the school will have a suitable conversion plan to ensure fairness between admission methods."

Regarding the school's decision to remove D01 (math, literature, English) when enrolling in the microchip design engineering training program, in the field of electronics and telecommunications engineering, Mr. Hai said that this is in compliance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training .
Specifically, for the training program on microchip design engineering, it is implemented according to Decision No. 1314/QD-BGDDT dated May 13, 2025 promulgating the standards for training programs on semiconductor microchips at the undergraduate and master's levels. Accordingly, the training program's admission combination must include mathematics and natural sciences , but combination D01 does not meet the requirements.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education recruits more than 7,000 students at its Ho Chi Minh City campus and nearly 500 students at its Binh Phuoc branch.
In addition to considering academic records, the school also recruits directly according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, giving priority to recruiting according to the school's project, considering the 2025 high school graduation exam scores, and the capacity assessment exam scores of Ho Chi Minh City National University.
The school will not require candidates to submit their transcripts in advance, but will download transcript data from the Ministry of Education and Training's system when candidates register their wishes on the ministry's system and calculate the merit points based on the evidence that candidates have submitted online. This helps reduce administrative procedures and ensures transparency.
Although this year's admission process has many new features, Dr. Quach Thanh Hai affirmed that universities have had and are having clear plans to ensure the rights of candidates.
