RT reported that in a video released on the evening of July 14, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised Denis Shmigal's experience in managing the country's limited resources, saying that this would be very valuable in his new role.
"Denis Shmigal's extensive experience will certainly be very valuable in the position of Minister of Defense of Ukraine," Mr. Zelensky emphasized.
It is known that Mr. Denis Shmigal, 49 years old, has been Prime Minister of Ukraine since 2020, the longest-serving Prime Minister of this country.

President Zelensky also nominated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko as Prime Minister of Ukraine to replace Mr. Shmigal.
Ms Sviridenko, 39, brokered a deal that would give the US preferential access to Ukraine’s mineral resources. She said she would soon present her proposed government and cabinet action plan.

The cabinet reshuffle will need parliamentary approval after Mr Shmigal formally submits his resignation. A vote on dismissing the current cabinet is expected to take place as early as July 16.
According to Mr. Zelensky, outgoing Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who led the Ukrainian delegation in the previous negotiations with Russia in Istanbul (Türkiye), is the main candidate to become the new Ukrainian Ambassador to the US.
