The cooperative model of shrimp paste production and trading managed by women in Hoat Giang commune was directed by the Provincial Women's Union to upgrade from a cooperative group to a cooperative according to the Project "Supporting cooperatives managed by women and creating jobs for female workers in the period 2022-2030". The cooperative has 20 members, with a charter capital of 40 million VND. The development from a cooperative group to a cooperative aims to maintain and develop the traditional shrimp paste profession of the locality, which used to be a product for the king, and is also an opportunity to improve product quality, protect the Ha Yen "shrimp paste" brand, and create jobs for many workers.
To help the cooperative promote its strengths, the Provincial Women's Union has supported 2 product display shelves, 70 fish sauce making jars, 1,250 glass jars to store products ensuring food safety and hygiene, and training with a total budget of 100 million VND. After nearly 1 year of support, up to now, on average, the cooperative has produced 1,600 kg of finished fish sauce per month, selling price 200 thousand VND/kg, revenue reached 320 million VND/month, after deducting costs, profit is 50%.

The members have taken good care of the chickens and sold them for meat, while keeping a portion of the parent chickens to re-flock; some households have kept a portion of their capital to continue buying chickens to raise in between seasons... With this method, the cooperative members have always maintained the total herd and have a stable source of income. The women have joined together to support each other in terms of services, markets... so costs have been reduced and profits have been increased.
These are 2 of 5 cooperatives directed by the Provincial Women's Union to be established under the Project "Supporting cooperatives managed by women and creating jobs for female workers in the period 2022-2030", including: Thieu Hoa commune agricultural crop growing cooperative; Tay Do commune livestock cooperative; Bim Son ward livestock cooperative; shrimp paste production and trading cooperative managed by women in Hoat Giang commune and Nhuan Thach clean vegetable growing cooperative managed by women in Dong Tien ward.
To stimulate demand for cooperatives to operate effectively, the Provincial Women's Union has supported nearly 600 million VND to buy seeds, fertilizers, food, equipment... to give to cooperative members; training to improve capacity for female managers and members, organizing forums to connect supply and demand, orienting production development associated with key products of each region and locality, building OCOP products... Thereby improving the capacity of cooperatives to develop sustainably. Especially for cooperatives to improve their competitiveness, create a chain of safe food products, and contribute to the implementation of gender equality goals in the economic sector.
