It is known that today the Hanoi Department of Education and Training met with leaders of high schools to review the admission scores for grade 10 of each school before the Director of the Department issued an official decision.
Also this morning, on some social networking groups and forums for parents and students, some photos of handwritten "standard scores" of a series of top schools with high standard scores were circulated. Each candidate must achieve 8.5 points or higher in each subject to have a chance to enter schools such as: Yen Hoa High School, Phan Dinh Phung, Kim Lien, Tran Phu, Viet Duc, Le Quy Don - Ha Dong...
However, the leader of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training immediately confirmed that the information being spread above is not true.
One of the notable new points in this year's 10th grade entrance exam is the adjustment of the standard score calculation method. Instead of multiplying the coefficient by 2 for math and literature as in previous years; in 2025, the admission score will be the total score of 3 subjects (math, literature, foreign language), each subject is calculated on a 10-point scale and does not multiply the coefficient.
The formula for calculating admission scores to grade 10 of non-specialized public high schools in Hanoi in 2025 is as follows: DXT = math score + literature score + foreign language score + priority score (if any) + incentive score (if any).
According to the 10th grade admission plan announced by Hanoi, candidates have 3 wishes to enter high school, in which wishes 1 and 2 are in the admission area the candidate has registered, wish 3 is in any admission area.
According to regulations of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, for public high schools, candidates who pass the first choice will not be considered for the second or third choice.
Candidates who do not pass their first choice can be considered for their second choice but must have an admission score at least 1 point higher than the school's admission score for their first choice.
Candidates who fail to pass their first and second choices will be considered for their third choice, but must have an admission score at least 2 points higher than the school's admission score for their first choice. When the admission score is lowered, public high schools are allowed to admit candidates with second and third choices who meet the admission requirements.
The entrance exam for non-specialized public grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year will be held on June 7 and 8; the specialized exam will be held on June 9. This is the first grade 10 entrance exam for junior high school graduates under the new generaleducation program.
This year, the whole city of Hanoi has 115,951 candidates registered for the exam, of which 102,860 candidates are taking the non-specialized public exam, 13,091 candidates are taking the specialized exam. The enrollment target for public high schools in Hanoi this year accounts for about 64% of the number of candidates, about 2-3% higher than last year.
