Organizing a launching ceremony to promote environmental protection and biodiversity conservation through reducing plastic waste generation

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued Decision No. 2260/QD-BVHTTDL on approving the environmental protection task: Organizing a launching ceremony to promote environmental protection and biodiversity conservation through reducing plastic waste generation, on the occasion of Vietnam Tourism Day, July 9, at Thien Cam beach, Ha Tinh province.

The mission aims to raise awareness and change the behavior of local people, tourists , and service businesses about reducing plastic waste and preserving marine biodiversity by launching a movement to not use disposable plastic products and hard-to-decompose nylon bags.

Specifically, propaganda and mobilization to call on local people, tourists, and service businesses to join hands in reducing the use of disposable plastic waste and non-degradable nylon bags in coastal tourist areas, especially at Thien Cam beach - Ha Tinh ; Raising awareness among local people, tourists, and service businesses about the role of the ocean and the value of marine biodiversity; Instructing local people, tourists, and service businesses to classify waste at source, limit the use of disposable and reusable plastic products; Introducing and promoting the value of Vietnam's marine biodiversity, emphasizing the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.

The contents of the task include: Surveying the area and location of the task, assessing the current status of marine environmental protection work in the locality; Developing propaganda content, raising awareness, changing behavior, minimizing the generation of disposable plastic waste, hard-to-decompose plastic bags in sea tourism activities in Ha Tinh; Developing propaganda content on the value of biodiversity of Vietnam's seas and islands in general and of Ha Tinh province, thereby raising awareness of relevant parties in environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, contributing to sustainable tourism development; Supporting equipment for collecting and classifying waste at source; Organizing the campaign: collecting, classifying plastic waste, handing over waste to specialized units Making utensils and items from discarded plastic items; Conducting the classification and collection of plastic waste, plastic waste, and disposable plastic bags of tourists along Thien Cam beach.

The event is expected to have the participation of 330 people including delegates; Organizing Committee and students of Hanoi College of Tourism, local people, tourists, local youth, students, local authorities, specialized units, local environmental forces...
