Timo Werner is 'banned'

Timo Werner just experienced the happiest moment of his life when he married his long-time girlfriend Paula, but just two weeks later, the German striker was "drenched with cold water" by RB Leipzig.

Timo Werner was abandoned by Leipzig.

According to Bild , Leipzig bluntly announced that Werner was no longer in the team's plans. Even when he decided to stay for the remaining 1 year of his contract (with a salary of up to 8.6 million pounds/year), the club did not use him, even in friendly matches.

Werner had previously endured a disappointing 18 months on loan from Leipzig to Tottenham, scoring just three goals in 41 games in North London, continuing a lacklustre spell since his unsuccessful spell at Chelsea.

Werner was reportedly offered a 2.5-year contract with New York Red Bulls, also owned by the Red Bull Group, worth around £3.5m per season. However, he rejected the offer.

Werner has not played for Leipzig since December 2023. His poor form in the Premier League has made him unappealing to any English clubs. The climax of his disappointment came when coach Ange Postecoglou publicly criticised Werner for his poor performance against Rangers in the Europa League last season, calling it "unacceptable".

With Leipzig closing the door, Werner's future is now at a dead end, even as he steps out of the wedding hall with a fresh start in married life, his career is in free fall.
