On June 26, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced the lifting of the “anti-terrorist” security regime in the Russian capital over the weekend due to concerns that the Wagner mercenary group was approaching the city.

Sharing on Telegram on June 26, Mayor Sobyanin thanked Moscow residents for their “calmness and understanding” during the crisis.
Meanwhile, the Russian National Anti-Terrorism Committee also announced that the situation in the country has "stabilized".
Earlier in the day, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu made his first public appearance since the surprise activity of Wagner forces last week.
According to the ministry, on June 26, Mr. Shoigu inspected the command post of the Western Military District's army corps in the special military operation area.
Here, Minister Shoigu heard from the army commander, Colonel General Yevgeny Nikiforov, a report on the current situation, the nature of the actions of the external enemy and the implementation of tasks by Russian forces in the main tactical directions, as well as the formation and combat coordination of the newly created reserve regiments of the Western Military District.
On the same day, according to some sources, Mr. Yevgeny Prigozhin - commander of the Wagner mercenary force, is still the subject of investigation by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) because he is suspected of leading the latest developments related to this force.
The criminal case against Mr Prigozhin began on 23 June, after he announced a “march for justice” by those fighting against the military leadership, whom he said had undermined Russia’s efforts in Ukraine.
Under an agreement with the Kremlin, charges against the Wagner group led by Yevgeny Prigozhin would be dropped, provided the militants returned to their camps and Mr Prigozhin moved to Belarus.
