(Dan Tri) - Scientific and technological information is the "lifeblood" that promotes digital economic development, industrialization - modernization and deep international integration as well as a source of nutrients for scientists.

That was the issue emphasized at the Workshop "The role of scientific and technological information in socio -economic development" held on August 29, attracting nearly 500 delegates.

The workshop was jointly organized by the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology , the Vietnam Association for Science and Technology Information, Ho Chi Minh City National University and One World Magazine.

This event marks the importance of enhancing the role of scientific and technological information, contributing to the successful implementation of socio-economic development goals and national modernization in the spirit of Resolution 57 of the Politburo .

At the workshop, delegates discussed many urgent issues such as the current status of access to scientific and technological information, building data infrastructure, emerging technology trends in various fields, and improving the quality of information at institutes and schools.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Dat, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, assessed that the workshop has special significance in the context that the whole country is aiming for the 2030 development goals, with a vision to 2045.

According to him, scientific and technological information is the "lifeblood" that promotes digital economic development, industrialization, modernization and deep international integration.

Mr. Tran Van Tung, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for Science and Technology Information, affirmed that scientific and technological information is not only knowledge, but also an important resource and catalyst to promote innovation and national development.

This conference is expected to open up opportunities for strong development in the science and technology information sector, while creating a foundation for breakthrough innovations. The technologies and solutions discussed and proposed at the event will be the key to getting closer to the goal of sustainable development, contributing to the effective implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW.

From a training perspective, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, emphasized that scientific and technological information is the source of nutrients that nourishes scientists, like sap nourishes trees. Through that, scientists can come up with practical solutions and recommendations, helping this source of information become more profound and more applicable.

Emphasizing the core role of science and technology in the national digital transformation process, Associate Professor Vu Hai Quan said that Ho Chi Minh City National University focuses on training and research in strategic fields such as AI, big data, semiconductor technology, biology, green energy and digital economy.

Associate Professor, Dr. Do Van Hung, Hanoi National University, shared that over the past 10 years, Vietnam has gradually built a legal corridor and information infrastructure for science and technology with important laws such as the Data Law (2024), the Law on Electronic Transactions, the Law on Personal Data Protection, etc.

However, the ecosystem is still fragmented, lacking connectivity, and has not yet formed a clear culture of data sharing. According to him, Vietnam needs to continue promoting open data platforms, applying AI in information analysis and sharing, developing specialized human resources, and raising awareness of the research community with the goal of turning scientific and technological data into a "knowledge energy source" serving innovation and sustainable development.

Sharing the same perspective, Prof. Dr. Vo Xuan Vinh, Director of the Institute of Business Research, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, said that scientific and technological information is the driving force for growth, enhancing competitiveness, promoting digital transformation and international integration.

Up to now, Vietnam has invested in developing a science and technology data system, but the level of application and exploitation is still limited compared to international standards.

Mr. Vinh proposed to promote investment in data infrastructure, apply AI in information exploitation, effectively connect the state, businesses, institutes and schools, and expand links with international databases.

The discussion sessions within the framework of the workshop also raised many issues of science and technology development in education, healthcare, information security on social networks, etc. In particular, many people were interested in synchronizing science and technology by developing data sources and common mechanisms to connect businesses and institutes and schools to work towards common interests.
