Preparing for the next matches in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, the Vietnamese team will gather again on August 29 in Hanoi . In this training session, coach Kim Sang Sik will give opportunities to many new players such as striker Pham Gia Hung, defender Tran Hoang Phuc and young midfielder Dinh Quang Kiet.
Unfortunately, the Korean strategist could not summon many key players due to injuries. Previously, midfielder Doan Ngoc Tan suffered a broken rib after a strong collision in the match between Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh in round 3 of V-League 2025-2026. Although his health was stable after being hospitalized, the 31-year-old midfielder did not recover in time to participate in this training session.
In addition to Ngoc Tan, two other players, Nguyen Quang Hai and Nguyen Hai Long, could not participate due to injury. To supplement the squad, head coach Kim Sang Sik called up left-back Phan Du Hoc (HA Gia Lai Club). The player, born in 2001, graduated from the 4th class of HA Gia Lai JMG Academy, and was called up to the Vietnam U23 team before coach Kim Sang Sik.
On August 29, Phan Du Hoc arrived at the team's base. In addition, the Vietnamese team has enough players from the clubs Hanoi, Hanoi Police, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Ho Chi Minh City Police and HA Gia Lai. The group of players from The Cong Viettel and Becamex Ho Chi Minh City will join the team after August 30 due to being busy with the late match of round 3 of V-League.
As coach Kim Sang Sik is leading the U23 Vietnam team in the 2026 AFC U23 Championship Qualifiers, the national team will be temporarily assigned to assistant Dinh Hong Vinh to directly manage. During the training period at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, the Vietnam team will have two internal friendly matches, respectively against the Hanoi Police Club on September 4 and Nam Dinh Club on September 7.
