Quang Hai, Hai Long absent due to injury, Vietnam team has new personnel

The Vietnamese team's lineup has been disrupted as some key players are injured and cannot join the team.

As part of the preparation plan for the next matches in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, the Vietnamese team will gather for the third time on August 29 in Hanoi . In this gathering, in addition to familiar faces such as Nguyen Quang Hai, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Do Duy Manh, Nguyen Thanh Chung, Nguyen Tien Linh..., the coaching staff also gives opportunities to many new players such as striker Pham Gia Hung, defender Tran Hoang Phuc or young central defender Dinh Quang Kiet.

However, the team's strength has had notable changes when some key players are absent due to injury. Midfielder Doan Ngoc Tan cannot participate after breaking his ribs in the match between Dong A Thanh Hoa and Hong Linh Ha Tinh . Midfielders Nguyen Quang Hai and Nguyen Hai Long also cannot participate due to injury.

To supplement personnel, coach Kim Sang-sik summoned left-back Phan Du Hoc of Hoang Anh Gia Lai - a player born in 2001, who was present in U23 Vietnam and is a stable choice in V.League.

As of August 29, the team had all the players from clubs such as Hanoi, Hanoi Police, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Ho Chi Minh City Police.

The players of The Cong Viettel and Becamex TP Ho Chi Minh will gather late after August 30 because they still have to compete in round 3 of V.League.

Currently, coach Kim Sang-sik is preparing with the U23 Vietnam team to compete in the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers. Therefore, the right to manage the national team during this period is assigned to assistant Dinh Hong Vinh.

During the training period at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, the team will have two internal friendly matches with the Hanoi Police Club on September 4 and the Nam Dinh Blue Steel on September 7.
