Beautiful actions with veterans

Veterans who were given priority seats on Hung Vuong Street by Ba Dinh Ward during the commemorative rehearsal, parade, and march all said that the arrangement of priority seats, breakfast, and drinks for veterans before the parade and march rehearsal showed the concern of the local Party Committee and government for those who contributed to the revolution.

Two veteran brothers Nguyen Duy Thong and Nguyen Duy Thanh (from Hoai Duc commune, Hanoi) were very excited to be given priority seats to watch the parade. "Today, we are very happy that we did not have to jostle and push each other, but were supported by the authorities and arranged a very convenient area to watch. We are very happy but are also willing to give up our seats to people with disabilities and children if necessary," the two veterans shared.

Veteran Vu Xuan Luu (63 years old, residing in Phu Tho province) said that he and the Veterans Group in Viet Tri ward with about 20 people came to watch the parade rehearsal. "We arrived at the intersection of Le Duan - Nguyen Thai Hoc at around 2am and were arranged very nice and convenient seats by the police and security comrades. Besides, the student volunteers also gave water and food to everyone, making us feel happy about the tradition of drinking water and remembering its source for veterans like us", veteran Vu Xuan Luu said.

There have been many good deeds of Hanoians helping veterans from far away provinces to watch the parade, becoming “viral” on the online community. That is the story of veteran Nguyen Van Minh (68 years old, from Quang Ngai province) who came to Hanoi to watch the parade, march and activities to celebrate National Day. He only brought with him 3 million VND, planning to sleep on the sidewalk to join in the joy of the country.

His story was noticed on the online community and he received enthusiastic help from a Hanoi family with free accommodation, visits to historical sites in the capital, and booking a flight back to Quang Ngai after the ceremony. "This trip was so unexpected. I found Hanoi crowded, noisy, and busy, but the people I met were all kind," veteran Nguyen Van Minh shared.
