Traffic police set up checkpoints to increase vehicle inspections. |
The 4-day holiday (from August 29 to September 1) caused a sudden increase in traffic. At the provincial central bus station from the afternoon of August 29, passengers were guided to board the bus according to regulations, the bus departed on time, and there was no jostling or overcrowding.
Mr. Trieu Tien Cuong, a passenger on the Thai Nguyen - Hai Phong route, said: I booked a ticket online, and when I arrived at the station, the bus was there, on time, no need to wait. The bus company was very friendly and the driver was enthusiastic, so I was very assured and satisfied.
It is forecasted that this year the number of passengers will increase dramatically due to the State organizing a military parade in Hanoi on the occasion of National Day September 2. Transport businesses in the area have proactively arranged more vehicles, increased human resources and inspected the vehicles before departure.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, a driver of Manh Ha Transport Company, headquartered in Phan Dinh Phung Ward, said: We are strictly instructed on traffic safety. In particular, we must ensure that we drive at the correct speed, on the correct route, do not pick up passengers along the way, and do not let any incidents happen. Any vehicle that does not meet technical requirements will be stopped immediately, absolutely not ignored.
Playing a central role in transportation activities, the provincial central bus station coordinates and strictly controls bus routes, strengthens management, inspection, and coordinates with functional forces to prevent violations.
Mr. Ha Minh Tung, Deputy Director of the Bus Station, said: We strictly follow the instructions of the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Construction on ensuring safety and order during the holidays. The station maintains 24/7 duty, regularly checks the condition of vehicles, drivers and passengers. Bus operators must sign a commitment, ticket prices are publicly listed, and no price increases or illegal passenger pairing occur. All passenger feedback is received and handled promptly. The station also coordinates with the police to control disguised contract vehicles, illegal vehicles, vehicles that do not meet the conditions for circulation...
Following the direction of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Construction - the standing agency of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee - has issued a detailed plan, requiring transport units and bus stations to tighten quality management, publicize ticket prices, ensure vehicle safety, and prevent overloading.
Comrade Tran Van Long, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Construction, said: Passenger transport during the National Day holiday on September 2 is identified as a key task. We have issued a document directing to strengthen inspection, resolutely handle the situation of overcrowding, running on the wrong route, picking up and dropping off passengers at the wrong place; at the same time, coordinate with the Traffic Police force to patrol on the main routes to ensure smooth traffic.
In addition, this plan will be implemented throughout the September 2nd holiday, the beginning of the new school year and Traffic Safety Month. The Department of Construction also directed the promotion of the application of electronic ticketing technology, improving service quality, service attitude and maintaining the camera surveillance system and hotline to receive feedback at bus stations.
Along with the transport sector, the Thai Nguyen provincial traffic police have also launched many peak inspection campaigns to strictly handle violations that are the direct causes of traffic accidents. Patrol teams are deployed more densely at major intersections, bus station areas, and crowded places.
During the peak holiday season, traffic police will focus on checking passenger and contract vehicles; handling acts of carrying too many people, stopping and parking in violation of regulations, and using alcohol; and at the same time, strengthening control at gateways into and out of the province to limit congestion and ensure smooth traffic.
Right after the holiday, tens of thousands of students will return to school, the demand for travel continues to increase. In order to serve this peak season, Thai Nguyen province has directed the sectors to continue to maintain the plan to ensure safe passenger transport, coordinate with the Department of Education and Training to implement the "Peak Month of Traffic Safety for Students Going to School", September 2025.
The work of controlling school buses, reminding parents to wear helmets for children, and promoting traffic skills for students is also being implemented synchronously. Schools must also sign a commitment to coordinate between families - schools - authorities to manage students when participating in traffic.
The proactive, synchronous and drastic preparation from the province to the grassroots has and will contribute to ensuring safety in passenger transport during the National Day holiday and facilitating traffic safety in the new school year. This is not only a short-term solution but also a way to build a long-term traffic culture for the community.
