Dozens of hours before the street closure, people from all over the country poured into the center of Hanoi, determined to stay overnight on the sidewalks and wait for the next morning to watch the parade rehearsal.
As the night wore on, the rain became heavier. Some people left the waiting area to find shelter, while the majority decided to stay put.

The heavy rain could not "cool down" the people's spirits.
Mr. Vuong's extended family of 21 people (from Lac Son commune, Phu Tho) has been in Hanoi for 3 days now. Although they watched the rehearsal the day before, his family still showed up at 10am today to choose a good spot on the sidewalk to watch the final rehearsal.
To cope with the increasingly heavy rain, Mr. Vuong's family rolled up tarps to cover their heads and bodies.
Mr. Vuong's whole family stretched out a tarp to shelter from the rain, singing loudly "as if Uncle Ho was there on the day of great victory".

"We can still bear this rain. Let's see if it rains too hard at night and we'll find shelter," Mr. Vuong shared and happily sang the song " As if Uncle Ho were here" with his family on the day of great victory .
