A colorful picture of agricultural tourism
From July 1, 2025, Bac Ninh province will have more space and resources to develop the economy , including agricultural and rural tourism. It is easy to see that the province has a large area of agricultural land with thousands of high-tech production models, organic tea growing areas, and fruit trees; and about 100 craft villages, creating a diverse and unique picture of agricultural tourism. Especially now, more and more tourists choose to visit gardens, farms, and craft villages to experience, relax, and immerse themselves in the fresh, peaceful space of the countryside. These are necessary conditions for developing agricultural tourism in a modern and sustainable direction.
Tourists visit the high-tech agricultural production model of Lan Diep Farm, Phat Tich commune. |
Learning about the high-tech agricultural production model of Lan Diep Farm, Phat Tich commune, we know that for many years now, gardeners have been interested in growing melon varieties with good yield, beautiful appearance, and high price to increase income while simultaneously developing experiential tourism . According to Ms. Duong Lan (garden owner), her family has more than 2,000 m2 of greenhouse growing melons of all kinds, 3-4 crops/year. Like this crop, the couple grows Japanese yellow melons, with an estimated yield of about 10 tons/crop, after deducting costs, the profit is 170-200 million VND/crop.
Since the beginning of June 2025, the garden has welcomed hundreds of visitors from inside and outside the province to visit, take photos, and experience harvesting melons. To attract tourists, Lan Diep Farm offers free admission, people can take photos, enjoy melons for free right in the garden, and if they buy melons, they will be charged 45,000 VND/kg. Realizing the potential, in the near future, Lan and her husband plan to continue developing this model in several other provinces.
Or like in the lychee season of 2025, fruit ripening tours in the province are organized more and more professionally, with many attractive services, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists. Ms. Vu Thi Cu, Bac Giang ward said that her family just had a vacation and experience at the Windy hills Homestay tourist destination, Chu ward (belonging to Homesmart Service Investment and Development Limited Company).
What impressed her most was seeing the vast lychee hills, with ripe fruit blazing red in a corner of the sky; experiencing fruit picking; breathing the fresh air; enjoying unique local ethnic dishes; immersing herself in the swimming pool to relax on a hot summer day; resting in family or community rooms. According to preliminary statistics from the professional agency, since the beginning of the lychee season, the whole province has attracted more than 200,000 domestic and foreign tourists to experience.
Bac Ninh is also a stopover for many visitors because of its unique and long-standing cultural heritage of craft villages; ecological gardens along the Duong River to develop recreational tourism, weekend picnics, and ecological camping; workshops producing wooden, copper, and ceramic products are also destinations that help visitors fully explore the life of the Northern countryside...
Need clear policies and directions
Modern agricultural tourism is not just about sightseeing, but also about real-life experiences, participating in production; combining relaxation and joining hands to preserve and promote local culture. This direction helps people increase their income; preserve rural culture, ecological space; and educate life skills associated with environmental protection for the younger generation. However, to effectively exploit the potential after the merger, Bac Ninh needs specific policies and directions.
In the coming time, the province will continue to focus on building tourism routes connecting the countryside, craft villages, and folk beliefs; implementing policies to support the development of high-tech agriculture, building production chains; increasing OCOP products, especially "supportive" products, to promote rural tourism development. |
According to the representative of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the locality needs to plan clearly the agricultural tourism area, avoiding spontaneous development. In particular, it is necessary to plan specialized production areas associated with tourism, prioritizing areas with favorable ecosystems, near main traffic routes, and densely populated areas. Infrastructure support and traffic connections also play an important role in "pulling" tourists to rural areas.
In order for more and more people to know about modern agricultural tourism destinations, localities, relevant departments and sectors continue to focus on promoting communication strategies through many means and forms. For example, developing smart tourism applications, digital maps, and websites introducing attractive destinations in the province.
Looking back at the lessons learned in developing agricultural tourism in the former Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces, we see that farmers cannot be separated from the tourism chain. Instead, they need to be trained to become professional tourism workers right on their own land. Agricultural tourism is not only about fruits, but also a unique cultural space. Accordingly, in the coming time, the province will continue to pay attention to building tourism routes connecting the countryside, craft villages, and folk beliefs; implementing policies to support the development of high-tech agriculture, building linkage chains in production; increasing OCOP products, especially "supporting" products, promoting the development of rural tourism.
