TS. Phan Cong Kien, Deputy Director of Nha Ho Cotton Research and Agricultural Development Institute, shared at the workshop breakthrough solutions for applying scientific advances in production: “Through the scientific career capital of the Central and the province, the Institute has researched and transferred a series of new crop varieties (grapes, apples, custard apples, aloe vera...), suitable for the dry coastal areas of Binh Thuan, now Lam Dong. The Institute has guided households to participate in the organic farming model, applying greenhouses, and water-saving irrigation, helping to increase productivity, reduce costs; link production and consumption chains; and increase the value of agricultural products. For example, the TN05 apple variety has been accepted for a protection certificate, recognized by the competent authority as a primary garden; transferred to plant 20 hectares in the communes of Tuy Phong, Vinh Hao, Lien Huong, and Bac Binh. The planting of this apple variety follows a chain linkage model between 3 parties: scientists (Nha Ho Cotton Research and Agricultural Development Institute) - farmers (participating households). organic production model) - enterprise (Thai Thuan Agricultural Products Production and Trading Company Limited in Khanh Hoa)".
Similarly, with the fresh grape variety NH01-152 announced for circulation and granted a protection certificate, the competent authority recognized the parent garden; the variety being grown accounts for over 50% of the area of grape growing communes such as Tuy Phong, Vinh Hao, and Lien Huong. Fresh grape varieties (seedless) NH04-102 are grown on over 5 hectares; fresh grape varieties NH01-205 are grown on 2 hectares, dual-use grape variety NH01-26 is grown on over 1 hectare; apple variety TN01 is grown on 20 hectares, as well as custard apple, Taiwanese guava, and jackfruit varieties are all suitable for the South Central region of the new Lam Dong province. With the transfer models, the Institute will support new technical advances in production; coordinate with competent authorities to issue growing area codes, VietGAP certification, and traceability; sign contracts with businesses and cooperatives to consume products. Farmers participating in the model commit to properly implementing the procedures and technical requirements, fully participating in training sessions, and monitoring field diaries according to regulations.
Also through the transfer of scientific and technological advances, apple growers on an area of 150 hectares in Tuy Phong, Vinh Hao, and Lien Huong communes have applied net bags and additional measures to prevent fruit flies from harming apples, according to the integrated fruit fly management process. This application has controlled fruit flies that harm apple trees, with a high prevention efficiency of over 96%; reducing over 20 chemical sprays per year while still ensuring productivity and product quality, increasing economic efficiency by more than 20 times compared to normal production.
Within the framework of the workshop on breakthrough solutions for applying scientific advances in production, the science and technology enterprise EDEN HUB Agricultural Technology Joint Stock Company (Ham Thuan commune) signed a cooperation agreement with Felix E-commerce Platform (HCMC) in applying science, technology, digital transformation in the agricultural sector, purchasing agricultural products produced according to VietGAP standards in the province; opening up for clean production models. Mr. Nguyen Hoai Trung, Deputy Director of Lam Dong Department of Science and Technology said: "Solutions for applying scientific and technical advances in production models, suitable for the arid coastal areas of the province, have initially brought certain results. The implementation of the new crop chain linkage model in this area will promote the strengths of the province's merged communes".
