About the sweet fruit
Known as the "rough gem of the arid land", Ninh Thuan (old) possesses a sunny and windy climate. It is these seemingly harsh conditions that, through human hands and the support of science and technology, have turned the "hot as Rang" land into fertile orchards, bringing a prosperous life to the people. Notable are grapes and apples, the two main crops of this land. With nearly 1,000 hectares of grapes yielding over 26,000 tons/year and more than 1,300 hectares of apples with a yield exceeding 40,000 tons/year, farmers in Ninh Thuan (old) constantly invest in cultivation according to safety and high-quality standards. More than 31% of the grape area has applied automatic irrigation technology, produced according to VietGAP and organic standards. Thanks to that, each hectare of grapes can bring in impressive income, from 600 million VND to 2 billion VND/crop. In addition, green asparagus (over 300 hectares) and aloe vera (350 hectares) have also affirmed their position as high-value crops, completely adapted to the soil here.

Meanwhile, Khanh Hoa (old) is famous for its fertile gardens, where fruit trees have become symbols. The vast mango gardens in Cam Lam - Cam Ranh with an area of nearly 9,000 hectares and an output of tens of thousands of tons each season are not only economic crops, but also part of the cultural heritage, deeply attached to the lives of many generations. In particular, Khanh Son durian "golden rice, small seeds" is a famous brand, highly appreciated by the market for its delicious and characteristic flavor. Although the area is still modest, the economic value that durian brings is enormous: In Khanh Son alone, 1,700 hectares of harvest brought in nearly 1,300 billion VND in the 2024 crop. Along with that, green-skinned grapefruit (about 1,500 hectares) is also a key crop, helping thousands of households in mountainous districts escape poverty and rise up.
Green and high-tech agricultural imprint
Wandering through the sweet fruit regions, the success of Khanh Hoa's new agricultural products comes not only from their unique quality but also from their commitment to "greening" in cultivation. From juicy bunches of grapes to fragrant durians, all are aimed at safe production processes according to VietGAP, organic standards, applying high technology to enhance value. In the sunny and windy land in the south of the province (formerly Ninh Thuan province), up to now, 3 high-tech agricultural areas have been developed with an area of 1,355 hectares; 30 high-tech agricultural projects have been built and operated effectively. Thanks to that, the production value reached 990 million VND/ha/year. High-tech melons and grapes alone reached more than 1.2 billion VND/ha/year. The value of high-tech agricultural production in the period of 2021 - 2025 increased by an average of 30.1%/year and accounted for 18% of the total production value of the industry.

In the northern region of the province (formerly Khanh Hoa province), up to now, the agricultural products of this land have affirmed their quality and brand, not only serving the domestic market but also promoting exports. Regarding traceability, currently, the whole province has 41 export growing area codes with a total area of over 4,436 hectares. Of which, there are 24 codes for exporting fresh mango to the markets: the United States, New Zealand, Australia, China, the European Union (EU); 23 codes for exporting durian to China with an area of 610.96 hectares. In addition, there are 40 codes for domestic growing areas with a total area of about 153 hectares on crops including: mango, coconut, pineapple, grapefruit, rice, vegetables of all kinds and garlic. In Ninh Thuan province (formerly), there are 57 codes for growing areas with an area of nearly 363 hectares.
Obviously, to be granted a growing area code and geographical indication, the prerequisite is that the growing area must apply safe farming methods, and the output products must not contain any toxic chemicals or harmful organisms. According to statistics, the whole province currently has more than 400 hectares of durian meeting VietGAP standards, dozens of hectares of organic durian. This figure for mango and green-skinned grapefruit is up to hundreds of hectares. Many farmers and businesses have invested in machinery and equipment for processing, increasing the added value of agricultural products, constantly increasing the value of products, meeting the increasingly high demands and demands of the market.
Make a relationship
The merger between Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan is considered by experts as a "perfect combination", capable of creating the most diverse "agricultural ecosystem" in the country, stretching from the highlands to the coastal plains, where the resonance and strengths of one region will complement and enhance the other. The immediate benefit is market expansion, connecting agricultural tours from mango and durian gardens to grape and apple farms. More importantly, the agricultural products of the whole province will take advantage of a modern logistics system including seaports, international airports and large processing plants to serve exports.

According to the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in the coming time, the agricultural sector will focus on building a soil and agricultural chemistry map, associated with determining the province's crop and livestock areas, ensuring compliance with the development orientation as well as consumer demand. The main orientation in the current period of agricultural development in Khanh Hoa is to focus on effectively implementing the policies of the Central Government and the province on developing agriculture in a green and sustainable direction; associated with prioritizing the development of clean agricultural products, organic agriculture to create value chain linkages to increase the competitiveness of agricultural products. Thereby, meeting the "dual benefits", helping consumers choose quality products, while helping farmers provide safe products, gain market share and increase income. At the same time, the province focuses on promoting the restructuring of the agricultural sector towards strengthening chain linkages, increasing added value, developing high-tech agriculture, building agricultural product brands, developing agriculture associated with tourism. In particular, restructuring the agricultural sector must ensure further income increase, improve farmers' lives, protect the environment, and contribute to achieving the province's overall growth target.
It can be said that by planning properly, promoting the strengths of each region and creating close links in the value chain, Khanh Hoa province can completely become a model of sustainable agricultural development, adapting to climate change and bringing high economic value, improving the lives of farmers.
