Impact of development projects on the environment and landscape of natural heritages in Vietnam

This is part of a series of communication activities to raise awareness of environmental protection and natural heritage for employees of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences , contributing to affirming the role and responsibility of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences in environmental protection towards concretizing the country's Sustainable Development Goals.

In his opening speech, Dr. Nguyen Song Tung, Director of the Institute of Human Geography, stated that Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex is one of the 39 mixed heritages of the world, and is the first mixed heritage of Vietnam and Southeast Asia, meeting the overall core contents of the millennium heritage ecosystem, with sufficient foundation and scientific value to develop the Trang An millennium heritage ecosystem into urban organization and contemporary life. Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex has truly played the role of a nucleus, a center promoting tourism development in the whole province, affirming the position of Ninh Binh tourism in the domestic and international tourism market. Along with the process of tourism development in particular, the socio -economic development of the province in general, along with the participation of tourists, the landscape environment of the area has suffered some negative impacts. Therefore, raising awareness of environmental protection of heritage in Trang An scenic complex is necessary and has practical significance, contributing to the effective implementation of regulations on environmental protection in general and natural heritage environment in particular.

Delegates listened to and discussed 3 presentations: "Environmental protection of the landscape at the world cultural and natural heritage site of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex" by Deputy Director of the Management Board of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, Ninh Binh Department of Tourism Bui Quang Ninh; "Conservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex associated with sustainable tourism development" by Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Song Ha, Academy of Social Sciences; "Environmental protection of natural heritage in island areas: Experience from Phu Quoc Island (Vietnam) and Taiwan Island" by Master Bui Thi Thuy Nga, Institute of World Economics and Politics .

Discussion opinions have clarified the scientific and practical bases of the urgent issue of preserving natural heritage, minimizing the negative impacts of development projects on the environment and heritage landscape.

On this occasion, the Jury organized the final round of the contest "VASS Youth join hands to call for environmental protection of Vietnam's natural heritage".
