Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education recommends that schools limit fresh flower decorations in opening ceremonies.

On September 3, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City sent an official dispatch to educational institutions, departments, agencies, unions, organizations, businesses, etc. about the opening ceremony of the new school year.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has requested educational institutions in the city to limit the use of fresh flowers in opening ceremonies.

"Only use flowers in really necessary locations to create highlights, ensuring aesthetics without being ostentatious or wasteful. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training does not accept congratulatory flowers in any form from agencies, organizations, businesses, parents and individuals attending and congratulating the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year.

" Educational institutions need to proactively and widely announce this policy to partners, parents, etc. in many forms (documents, announcements on websites, bulletin boards, social networks, etc.)," ​​the official dispatch of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training stated.

In addition, the document stated that, in order to accompany and share the difficulties of people in provinces and cities affected by storms No. 4 and No. 5, educational institutions in the city are requested to launch a campaign to support flood victims; guide and encourage units and individuals to convert the form of congratulations into contributions to the school's scholarship fund or join hands to support people.

At the end of August 2025, some schools in Ho Chi Minh City also announced that they would not accept flowers to celebrate the opening ceremony, and would instead convert them into scholarships to give to poor students.

Special opening ceremony

The opening ceremony of the new school year 2025-2026 is considered an "unprecedented" special opening ceremony when the whole country holds it at the same time from 8:00 to 9:30 on September 5.

The event will be held live at the National Convention Center, No. 1 Thang Long Avenue, Hanoi . At the same time, the ceremony will be broadcast live on VTV1 channel of Vietnam Television and connected online to all educational institutions from kindergarten to university across the country.
