Organizing the opening ceremony ensures absolute safety in complex weather conditions

The Minister of Education and Training sent a telegram to the Directors of the Departments of Education and Training of provinces and centrally-run cities from Lam Dong to the North on proactively responding to Storm No. 6.

The telegram cited information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting: on August 30, the tropical depression in the East Sea strengthened into a storm. The center of the storm was located at about 17.2 degrees North latitude - 109.8 degrees East longitude, in the sea area from Quang Tri to Da Nang .

At 1 p.m. on August 30, the storm center was located at approximately 17.7 degrees North latitude - 107.5 degrees East longitude, on the sea from Nghe An province to Hue city. The strongest wind near the storm center was level 8, gusting to level 10, disaster risk level: level 3.

This is a storm-on-storm situation, which can cause widespread heavy rain while some localities are still dealing with the consequences of Storm No. 5; due to heavy rain lasting for many days, there is a potential risk of landslides, flash floods, and deep inundation, seriously affecting social life, especially preparations for the opening of the new school year 2025-2026.

To proactively respond to Storm No. 6 and continue to overcome the consequences of Storm No. 5, the Minister of Education and Training requests the Directors of the Departments of Education and Training of provinces and centrally-run cities from Lam Dong and above to continue to strictly implement Official Dispatch No. 1335/CD-BGDDT dated August 23, 2025, and at the same time focus on performing the following tasks:

Direct educational institutions and functional units to grasp the situation, review the current status of facilities, teaching equipment, textbooks and learning materials to have the best preservation measures. For damaged teaching equipment, desks and chairs, learning materials, it is necessary to urgently have a repair plan so that they can be put into use soon.

Plan to repair and renovate affected structures, report to competent authorities to promptly arrange funding for repairs as soon as the water recedes, and ensure teaching and learning conditions from the beginning of the new school year.

Statistics on damage to textbooks and school supplies of students, send to the Ministry of Education and Training for timely support plan.

Be ready with a plan to organize the new school year opening ceremony suitable to local weather conditions, ensuring absolute safety for students, teachers, and educational administrators.
