Cristiano Ronaldo has officially signed a two-year contract extension with Al-Nassr, extending the Portuguese superstar's stay with the Saudi Pro League side until June 2027. By then, the legendary striker will be 42 years old.

The information was confirmed by the Riyadh-based club on the X platform (formerly Twitter): "Al Nassr Club Company officially signed a contract extension with Cristiano Ronaldo. The Al Nassr captain's contract will be valid until 2027".

For his part, Ronaldo also shared on his personal Instagram account with a photo of the contract signing: "A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let's make history together." The current contract of the former Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester United star is expected to expire at the end of June.

The move marks a significant turning point, especially after Ronaldo posted the words “this chapter is over” on social media last month after Al-Nassr’s final game of the season, sparking speculation that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner would be leaving the club.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has even claimed that Ronaldo is in discussions about joining a club that has qualified for the Club World Cup. The Portugal captain has also confirmed that there have been "many contacts" with other clubs, but he has ultimately chosen not to pursue any further moves.

Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr as a free agent in December 2022, after leaving Man Utd over a controversial interview. He has since scored 99 goals in 111 appearances for Al-Nassr and was the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League last season with 35 goals, winning the Golden Boot award.

In his illustrious career, Ronaldo has scored a total of 938 goals for club and country, just 62 strikes away from the 1,000-goal mark.

Ronaldo's commitment comes amid Al-Nassr's managerless situation, following the departure of Stefano Pioli on Wednesday. The former AC Milan coach, who was appointed in September, led Al-Nassr to third place last season, 13 points behind champions Al-Ittihad.
