On the afternoon of June 27, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Ms. Audrey Azoulay, Director General of the United NationsEducational , Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), on an official visit to Vietnam.

The General Secretary emphasized that the 72 titles recognized by UNESCO, located in all provinces and cities of Vietnam, are a significant resource for sustainable socio -economic development, improving people's livelihoods, preserving and promoting Vietnam's cultural values and heritage, contributing to human civilization.
Vietnam is entering a new era, realizing the goal of becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045. Vietnam will continue to deeply integrate into world politics, the global economy, and human civilization, constantly striving to contribute to maintaining peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to multilateral cooperation and the role of UNESCO, commits to promoting its role as an active and responsible member, proactively contributing to UNESCO's efforts as a member of key management mechanisms, and actively and responsibly contributing to UNESCO's mission and common work.
The General Secretary emphasized his wish that UNESCO will always be a companion and reliable partner of Vietnam, especially in preserving and promoting the value of heritages and UNESCO titles in Vietnam for sustainable development.
The General Secretary proposed that UNESCO continue to support the implementation of the Dossier to preserve and promote the value of the World Heritage of Thang Long Imperial Citadel - the sacred heritage of the nation; the Dossier of the Complex of Monuments and Landscapes of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac to soon be recognized as a World Cultural Heritage in July 2025, as well as other dossiers to be considered in 2025 such as: Dong Ho Folk Painting Art to be recognized as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection, Ho Chi Minh City in the Global Creative Cities Network, Hanoi in the Global Learning Cities Network, etc.
UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay praised the nearly 50 years of cooperation with Vietnam, recognizing Vietnam as one of the most active members of UNESCO and affirming that "the Vietnam-UNESCO cooperation has never been as good as it is today". The fact that Vietnam is holding positions in key mechanisms of UNESCO has demonstrated the trust of UNESCO and member countries in Vietnam's contributions to the common activities of the Organization.

The UNESCO Director-General expressed his impression of Vietnam's recent socio-economic development achievements and said that Vietnam is a model that many other countries can learn from.
Ms. Audrey Azoulay highly appreciated the vision and wise leadership of the Party and State through major strategies and policies that Vietnam has recently implemented in conjunction with institutional reform, promoting education, culture, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, creating key driving forces for the country's development, typically the policy of exempting tuition fees for all students at public schools from 2025, the development of strategies and action programs on promoting digital transformation and the application of artificial intelligence in Vietnam and the policy of promoting the private economy, including creating conditions for the private sector to participate in UNESCO activities in Vietnam.
Ms. Audrey Azoulay emphasized that UNESCO's recognition of Vietnam's titles and heritages, most recently Lang Son Global Geopark and a number of global learning cities and creative cities, has demonstrated the international community's appreciation of Vietnam's national cultural values, and is also very consistent with Vietnam's development trend in the coming time. This also demonstrates respect for Vietnam's efforts and commitments in contributing to enriching the treasure of human civilization and contributing to the common efforts of the international community.
Recognizing Vietnam's outstanding role in the field of heritage conservation and promotion, the UNESCO Director-General affirmed that the delicate preservation of cultural, historical and traditional values in the process of modernization has created a unique identity and sustainable appeal of Vietnam in the international arena. UNESCO will continue to support and assist Vietnam in activities of inscribing and sustainably preserving world heritages, promoting heritage values, and developing cultural industries in the coming time.
