Knowing about organ donation to save lives since age 13

Duyen has finished her first year of 4 years of university with good grades. "I just finished the second semester of my first year. When the results come out, I will let my beloved and following teachers and friends know. I still try my best every day," Duyen confided.
Duyen learned about organ donation in 2018, when she read an article about a poor mother who donated her daughter's cornea after her daughter passed away. That cornea helped the two people see the light.
"I was only 13 years old at that time, but I cried when I read that. I thought about donating my organs from then on," Duyen said.
In 2023, when Le Thai Duyen When she turned 18, she registered to donate organs for the first time. Duyen recalled that at that time, she had to print out an application and fill out the information to send to the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center. The unit contacted her, but then there was no information back.
As time passed, Duyen also forgot whether her organ donation registration was successful or not. "In 2024, a friend (3 years older than Duyen) suddenly passed away in an accident. I was shocked by that news, but later learned that the family had carried out the friend's last wish and donated his body to medicine to save people. That reminded me of my organ donation registration," Duyen confided.

On June 20, student Le Thao Duyen went to Hue Central Hospital to donate blood. After she finished donating, she went into the restroom and saw a young person crying after receiving the results of her cancer diagnosis. Duyen's words of comfort did not lift the young girl's broken spirit.
At that time, Duyen asked where to register for organ donation at Hue Central Hospital and went straight there. "I registered to donate all of my organs. I hope that if one day I am no longer in this world, this body will still have value to save other people's lives," Duyen said.
Duyen said that people who read the article about her contacted her to support her financially and spiritually. Thanks to that love and support, Duyen, who is studying at university, still has enough money to take care of Gao - her son. Gao is currently living with Duyen in Hue.
"I went to college and was able to take care of Gao thanks to the kindness. I have received a lot in my life, it's time to give back," Duyen smiled.
Duyen is living a beautiful life, she not only cares for herself but also thinks of others. Recently, Duyen and her friends participated in supporting the 9th to 10th grade exam season in Hue. She also regularly participates in donating blood for charity.
