At the 1st Congress of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, presenting a speech with the theme "Developing literature and art in the new period to contribute to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party", People's Artist Nguyen Xuan Bac - Director of the Department of Performing Arts said that developing literature and art in the new period is a long-term strategic issue, and at the same time, an urgent task in the face of the requirements of comprehensive national renewal in the current period, so there needs to be synchronous and fundamental solutions for literature and art to participate deeply in political and social life, contributing to the rapid and sustainable construction and development of the country.
Since the early days of national independence, our Party and State have paid special attention to cultural and artistic work; building Vietnamese culture and people of socialism. Resolutions of Party Congresses have highlighted the special position and role of literature and art in the process of building and developing the country and defending the Fatherland.

Evaluation of results after more than 15 years of implementing Resolution No. 23/NQ-TW "on "Continue to build and develop literature and art in the new period", our Party assessed: The work of building and developing literature and art has achieved many positive results. Literary and artistic creation activities are increasingly vibrant, rich in content, and diverse in expression methods. The team of artists and writers is also constantly growing in many aspects, trusting in the leadership of the Party, closely attached to the People. However, besides the encouraging results, there are still shortcomings and limitations.
According to Director Nguyen Xuan Bac, entering a new period, requiring innovation in thinking and awareness to promote the development of literature and art in the context of globalization, digital transformation and the strong development of the knowledge economy , our country's literature and art are facing both great opportunities and challenges.
Firstly , we must closely follow the country's political tasks and promptly reflect the major issues of the times: sustainable development, green transformation, digital transformation, protecting sovereignty , and preserving national identity.
Second, building Vietnamese people of the new era, with pure hearts, bright minds, great ambitions, adapting to the digital world and socialist-oriented market economy.
Third , strengthen the protection of the Party's ideological foundation and refute erroneous and hostile views through profound and widespread creative forms.
Fourth , the negative side of market economy and social networks easily leads to commercialization and deviation of values in literature and art.
Fifth , the gap between mainstream art and popular taste is widening.
Promoting the value of cultural heritage is exploiting endogenous strength to develop a prosperous, prosperous and sustainable country.
At the National Cultural Conference on November 24, 2021, in his speech directing the Conference, the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed: Literature and art are a quintessential part of national culture, playing a role in nurturing the soul, morality, and personality of people, thereby contributing to building a solid spiritual foundation for society. "Cultural development must be on the solid foundation of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought..." Literature and art need to honestly and deeply reflect life, promote what is right and good; criticize what is bad and negative, contribute to orienting ideology, enhancing aesthetics and humanity for the public.
To develop literature and art to contribute to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, the Department of Performing Arts recommends focusing on the following key tasks:
Firstly, it is necessary to continue to thoroughly grasp the Party's viewpoints on culture, literature and art. Organize extensive study and research of cultural contents in the documents of the 13th National Party Congress, Conclusion 76-KL/TW on continuing to implement Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW on building and developing Vietnamese culture to meet the requirements of sustainable national development; Conclusion No. 84/KL-TW dated June 21, 2024 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution 23-NQ/TW on continuing to build and develop literature and art in the new period; Conclusion No. 156/KL-TW on continuing to implement Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW.
Second, improve the quality of the artists. Nurture and train artists with strong political will, high professional capacity, passion for the profession and attachment to the Fatherland and the People. Encourage creativity and innovation in expression while still maintaining the correct ideological stance.
Third, increase investment and support for the creation and dissemination of valuable literary and artistic works, prioritizing works that reflect the renovation process, socio-economic development, good people, good deeds, etc.; build funds to support creation, publishing, and performance to encourage authors, especially young people.
Fourth, promote the application of digital technology in the creation, communication and dissemination of literary and artistic works. Build a space for digital cultural creation, bring literature and art into the online environment in an attractive and modern way to reach young people and expand international influence.
Fifth, strengthen coordination between Party and State agencies, literary and artistic associations and the community, creating conditions for literature and art to deeply participate in political and social life, ideological education right from within the family, school and community.
Sixth, effectively implement the National Target Program on Cultural Development for the 2025-2035 period.
" At the meeting of artists nationwide on December 30, 2024, in his speech, General Secretary To Lam emphasized the three main pillars to develop Vietnamese culture, literature and art worthy of the nation's rising era, in which, the General Secretary proposed to strongly increase the contribution and dedication of artists in implementing the strategic goals of 100 years under the leadership of the Party, 100 years of the founding of the country.
The team of artists strives to create timeless, useful works that vividly reflect the reality of the new revolutionary period; illuminate the way, illuminate life, have the power to move emotions, call on the entire people and the entire army to implement the Party's policies; arouse and gather the people's hearts, multiply the people's strength, together with the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army to create strength, bring the Vietnamese revolutionary cause to new heights; actively contribute to building human civilization," People's Artist Nguyen Xuan Bac shared.
