After the Saudi Arabian national championship ended, C. Ronaldo confirmed that "a chapter in his career has closed". That implied that he will leave Al Nassr after his contract ends at the end of this month.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino even revealed the prospect of the Portuguese superstar joining a club competing in the FIFA Club World Cup.

However, in the end, C. Ronaldo surprised many people when he agreed to stay at Al Nassr until at least next summer. Some sources said that CR7 rejected many clubs to continue staying at Al Nassr and receive a sky-high salary of up to 200 million pounds per year.

C. Ronaldo also needs to perform well next season to prepare for the 2026 World Cup, the last major tournament in his career. CR7 does not want to leave because he will have problems adapting in the decisive season.

In addition, a source from BBC said that C. Ronaldo is planning to invest in the sports sector in Saudi Arabia. That is one of the reasons why this player decided to stay in the Middle Eastern country.

C. Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in 2023. Up to now, he has played 111 matches and scored 99 goals for this club. However, superstar number 7 has not been able to help Al Nassr win major titles when continuously failing in the Saudi Arabian national championship and AFC Champions League.

After a disappointing season, Al Nassr have decided to sack coach Stefano Pioli after less than a year. The Saudi Arabian club announced: “Al Nassr announces that coach Pioli and his assistants will no longer be in charge of the first team coaching staff.”

This is the fourth time Al Nassr has fired a coach since C. Ronaldo joined the club. Previously, coaches Rudi Garcia, Dinko Jelicic, Luis Castro all suffered the same fate. C. Ronaldo expressed his gratitude to coach Pioli: "Thank you for everything."

According to Italian press, it is likely that coach Luciano Spalletti, who was recently fired by the Italian national team, will take on the hot seat at Al Nassr.
