The Vietnam - Cuba Biomedical Technology Cooperation Workshop took place in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province on June 28, to concretize and implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.

The event was organized by Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee in coordination with the Green Economy Institute (under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations), with the participation of Mr. Tran Luu Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, leaders of Lam Dong province and nearly 200 delegates from Vietnam and Cuba.
At the workshop, representatives of agencies, experts and scientific organizations of the two countries shared achievements and proposed cooperation in the field of biomedical technology, especially in the treatment of cancer, stroke and diabetes.
An important content discussed was the orientation to establish the Vietnam - Cuba Biomedical Technology Cooperation Center in Lam Dong.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Tran Luu Quang emphasized that advanced medical and biological technology is one of 11 strategic technology groups that Vietnam prioritizes for development.
He assessed that Cuba has achieved a high level in the field of biomedical technology, from research to production and commercialization, and affirmed that cooperation between the two countries not only has scientific significance but also demonstrates strong friendship.
Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Tran Hong Thai said that the province has favorable conditions to develop high-tech biomedical technology and is aiming to build this industry into a spearhead sector. The province is committed to working with domestic and foreign partners to realize this goal.

Within the framework of the workshop, the Green Economy Institute signed a comprehensive cooperation framework contract with Labiofam Group (Cuba) in research and production of biological products used in medicine and agriculture.
At the same time, the Institute also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BioCubaFarma) on cooperation in developing vaccines, food preservatives and biological applications in agriculture.
