On June 27, Lam Dong Provincial Police announced that the Provincial Police Investigation Security Agency had issued a decision to prosecute the criminal case of "intentionally disclosing state secrets; appropriating state secret documents" (according to Article 337 of the Penal Code) occurring at the examination site of Thang Long High School (Nam Ban town, Lam Ha district).

Previously, on the morning of June 26, during the literature exam, the invigilator at exam room 2206, Thang Long High School exam site discovered that candidate NPTS (18 years old, residing in Lam Ha district) showed signs of suspected use of high-tech equipment to cheat.

After the exam supervisor reported to the head of the exam site and made a record of the exam suspension, the case was transferred to the provincial police for coordination and handling.

Lam Dong Provincial Police have directed the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention to coordinate with the Department of Internal Political Security to conduct verification.

Initial investigation results show that NPTS ordered a set of equipment including a button camera and wireless headphones from Facebook, and invited BTQ (17 years old, residing in Lam Ha district) to cooperate in solving the questions.

On June 26, NPTS brought the device into the exam room and used a camera to record the exam papers and send them out through an IOT-connected application that allows real-time image transmission. At the same time, this candidate also set up a call via Facebook Messenger with BTQ to receive the answers.

However, because he was engrossed in playing the game, BTQ only discovered the test about 45 minutes after the test started. Q. only had time to take a photo of page 2 of the test, use ChatGPT to solve it, then read the answer for NPTS to copy.

The incident was discovered by the supervisor and the equipment was immediately confiscated. The police determined that the actions of these two people had seriously violated regulations on protecting state secrets.

According to Decision No. 531/QD-TTg dated May 19, 2023 of the Prime Minister , the high school exam questions are in the list of "Top Secret" documents and will only be declassified after 2/3 of the essay test time has passed.

Initially, the provincial police confirmed that they had not discovered any acts of spreading the exam questions on social networks or sending them to third parties. The case file has been transferred to the Security Investigation Agency for handling according to its authority.

Lam Dong Provincial Police said they will continue to clarify the behavior, motives and related individuals, ensuring strict handling to protect the fairness and seriousness of this year's high school graduation exam.
