The family of Mrs. Dinh Thi En, Na Puc village has a better life thanks to labor export. |
The key to escaping poverty
Hong Thai is nearly 90km from the provincial center, a commune with a large number of ethnic minorities, of which the Dao, Mong, and Tay ethnic groups account for more than 70%. With harsh natural conditions and little productive land, people's lives always face many difficulties.
However, in recent years, thanks to investment resources from ethnic policy programs and projects, people's lives have improved significantly. People have been supported to build solid houses, provided with land for production, supported with quality seedlings and access to preferential loans. In particular, the policy of supporting labor export has become the key to help people, especially the young, open the door to escape poverty.
Mrs. Dinh Thi En, from Na Puc village, still cannot forget the moment when her son Vuong Van Thang, born in 1998, went to work abroad. Mrs. En confided: the family's economy only relied on a few fields, and they did not have money to repair the dilapidated house. They struggled to find a way out of poverty until a commune official showed them how to work abroad, and then guided them in applying for a preferential loan from a policy bank. In 2022, my son was able to work abroad in Taiwan. Up to now, the family has paid off all their debts and escaped poverty. With the money her son sent back, she was able to build a new, spacious house, no longer worrying about the rain and wind.
Like Mr. Thang, born and raised in a farming family, the economic conditions were extremely difficult, the whole family of four relied on a few fields. Not accepting poverty and hardship, Mr. Ly Van Sang, Mong ethnic, Hong Ba village, traveled everywhere, doing all kinds of jobs to make a living. In early 2020, after attending a labor export consultation conference in the commune, Mr. Sang borrowed capital from the Social Policy Bank to participate in labor export.
Mr. Sang said: At first, when he decided to go to work in a strange country, he was very worried and confused. But with the encouragement of relatives, friends and the help of the local government, he was determined to go. His main job in Japan is to grow and take care of vegetables for a family.
Thanks to his diligence and hard work, after 14 months of working abroad, he had over 500 million VND, after deducting expenses, he had 300 million VND left to bring home. From the experience he learned in Japan, taking advantage of the local soil and climate conditions, he invested in growing vegetables and cold-weather fruit trees, combined with raising livestock to develop the economy.
Support labor export
Secretary of the Hong Thai Commune Youth Union, Vi Van Tuan, is called a "young leader" by young people. Since 2023, Mr. Tuan has connected with Tradimexco Vietnam Group Joint Stock Company to support many union members and young people to participate in overseas labor export. Mr. Tuan confided that after more than 2 years of implementation, the commune Youth Union has guided and supported more than 15 people to go overseas to work in Taiwan, Japan, etc. Many union members and young people have had stable jobs, paid off all debts and escaped poverty.
The newly built, spacious house of Mr. Hau A Thanh, born in 1995, in Na Pin village, was built with money from working abroad. In 2022, when he learned that the locality had a program to support young people working abroad, he registered and was accepted. After a period of studying Japanese, he was sent to work for a 3-year term in Japan. With an average income of about 20 - 25 million VND/month, he saved up and sent money back to his family to build a solid house. The remaining amount when he returns home in October, he will invest in developing livestock farming locally.
Comrade Le Van Tu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hong Thai Commune, said: Determining that labor export is the shortest way to help the locality reduce poverty quickly and sustainably, in recent years, Hong Thai Commune has stepped up propaganda to the people about the State's policies for laborers participating in labor export. The whole commune currently has more than 50 people working abroad in the markets of Taiwan, Japan, etc. The cost of labor export comes from preferential loans for poor and near-poor households; support capital from national target programs for sustainable poverty reduction; socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas. To help people feel secure when working abroad, the commune government regularly connects and searches for reputable recruitment companies to save the most costs for the people. Although they only work as manual laborers, according to statistics, each person has a salary of 20 million VND per month or more. Compared to the local income, that is a "dream" number. Most workers have the mindset of saving, sending money back to renovate their houses and buy more agricultural land to stabilize their lives when they return.
It can be seen that labor export is a right direction, actively contributing to improving people's lives, thereby successfully implementing poverty reduction work in Hong Thai commune in particular and Tuyen Quang province in general.
