On the evening of July 15, the police of Cua Tung commune, Quang Tri province, said they had just worked with the owner of the Facebook account "Thi Lien" to clarify the posting of unverified content related to a strange man approaching children at night.

Specifically, on July 13, Ms. NTL (born in 1985), residing in Trung Nam neighborhood, Cua Tung commune, posted information about the incident on her personal Facebook page with the aim of warning the community not to receive items from strangers at night.

Specifically, Ms. NTL described her son, HQK (18 years old), walking on a dark road when a strange man wearing a mask approached him and asked for directions to Cua Viet.

The boy did not stop but kept walking and pointing when the man stopped the car and then pressed a stack of money into his hand. Scared, the boy did not take the money, covered his nose with his hand and tried to escape. When he got home, he showed signs of a headache. At the same time, he reminded everyone to be vigilant.

This information was posted and caused a stir in public opinion, people were confused and scared. Upon receiving the information, Cua Tung Commune Police urgently investigated the entire content of the incident.

Initially, the police clarified that on the evening of July 10, HQK, the son of Ms. NTL, and two friends walked home from the People's Committee of Cua Tung commune. Afterwards, K. met a man on a motorbike, wearing a mask, asking for directions to Cua Viet town. The child gave directions, and this person gave him a small amount of money, but he did not accept it and quickly left with his friend.

At the meeting, Ms. NTL admitted that the article was posted based on her child’s story and there was no basis to determine that the man had violated the law. Immediately after that, Ms. NTL took the initiative to remove the article and posted a correction.

Mr. Le Duc Dong, Chief of Cua Tung Commune Police, said: Through the incident, people are advised to be alert when receiving and sharing information on social networks to avoid causing public panic; at the same time, when there is content related to security and order, they need to contact the Commune Police directly for timely handling, and should not post information without verification.../.
