A car enthusiast in Ho Chi Minh City has just shared a unique item, a Porsche Boxster 987 generation sports car. If you think this car line is interesting compared to the more modern 718 Boxster, it lies in the fact that the car uses a manual transmission, instead of an automatic. Obviously, for sports car enthusiasts in general, and Porsche enthusiasts in particular, owning a manual transmission car is a dream, the right way to experience the feeling of shifting the clutch into gear. According to the owner, a car collector offered a very good price but he has no intention of selling it, because this car is so rare, so selling it would be a pity.
In Vietnam, perhaps car enthusiasts are more familiar with the 4th generation of Porsche's convertible sports car called the 718 Boxster, but before that, domestic tycoons had played with 3 generations of Porsche Boxster cars and the most prominent and numerous was the Porsche Boxster 987, produced from 2005 to 2012. The number of Porsche Boxster 987s sold is not much, if this car using manual transmission finds a new owner, the price can be several billion VND. The 987 is the second generation Boxster model, but it is still very similar to the previous generation. The most obvious change in style is in the headlights, which now have a similar shape to the headlights of the Carrera G, Porsche's flagship mid-engine sports car at that time. The side vents on the Boxster are now larger, with more prominent horizontal bars, and are finished in metallic silver, regardless of the paintwork of the rest of the car. The wheel arches have been widened to allow for wheels up to 19 inches in diameter, a first for the Boxster.
The most significant updates from the 986 line are on the inside, with a more prominent circular theme evident in the instrument cluster and cooling vents. Porsche claims that the 987 Boxster shares only 20% of its components with its predecessor. The power of the original 987 Porsche Boxster convertible sports car was a 2.7-liter, horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine that produced a maximum capacity of 236 horsepower. This internal power helps the Porsche Boxster 987 from 2005 to 2007 accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds before reaching a top speed of 256 km/h. This figure is for the manual transmission version. If the car uses the Tiptronic S, the corresponding figures are 7.1 seconds and 250 km/h.
For the 2007 model year and later, Porsche gave the Boxster a revised engine that boosted output to 242 horsepower, while reducing the sprint time from standstill to 62 mph to 6.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 165 mph. Video : See details of rare Porsche Boxster987.
