Bui Duong Chinh (2010), currently a 10th grade student at Luc Ngan Duong High School, is one of the situations in episode 142. Since childhood, Chinh did not know who his father was. He grew up under the care of his grandmother Nguyen Thi Niem (1940) and his mother Bui Thi Mo (1980) in Luc Ngan commune, Bac Ninh province (formerly Bac Giang province).
Mrs. Niem is now old, has poor eyesight, is hard of hearing and has difficulty walking, and is no longer able to work. Meanwhile, Ms. Mo, Chinh's mother, despite her poor health and frequent pain in her arms and legs, still tries to work every day to take care of her elderly mother and son. Because she is afraid of the cost, she has never dared to go to the doctor.
Ms. Mo’s family grows 50 lychee trees, but because of last year’s crop failure, they have no income. To make ends meet, Ms. Mo grows vegetables to sell at the market. On average, they harvest once every 5-10 days, earning about 70,000-80,000 VND. In addition, the family also receives 500,000 VND in monthly support from Ms. Niem’s senior citizen allowance.
Chinh’s family is poor, so he was exempted from tuition and books thanks to the support of teachers and neighbors. He has not had new clothes for a long time, but he has never complained or asked for anything. Chinh understands how hard his mother has worked to take care of his elderly grandmother and him.
Every day, he rides his old bicycle, taking more than 30 minutes to get to school. Despite the long distance and his weak body, Chinh is still determined to go to class regularly. He is deeply aware that only education can help him and his family escape from difficulties.
Not only did Chinh make an effort to maintain his studies, he also just won third prize in the Economics and Law subject in the school-level excellent student competition. Because he wanted to save money, he often skipped breakfast and went to class hungry, making his health increasingly weak. But for him, going to school and improving himself is the greatest joy.
The family of three currently lives in a house built more than 20 years ago that is now seriously degraded, dilapidated and has no toilet, making daily life extremely inconvenient.
Actress Luong Thu Trang and singer Do Hoang Hiep devoted themselves to the program's challenges, bringing laughter and motivation to the children to overcome difficulties.
Outside of school hours, Chinh always takes the initiative to help his mother with housework. He carries water from the hill to store for daily use. Not only that, he also helps his mother grow vegetables and take care of the lychee garden to make her less tired.
Even though he was young, Chinh was already aware of the responsibility of taking care of his family. For him, every job is not only a duty, but also a way to share love and lessen the burden on his mother and grandmother who are in their twilight years.
Now, Chinh's biggest worry is his mother's health. He is afraid that one day, his mother will no longer be by his side due to illness. Chinh is also always worried that he will not be able to continue his studies. However, he still nurtures the dream of studying hard, becoming a good interpreter so that he can earn money to take care of his mother and grandmother, and bring his family a less difficult life.
Feeling sorry for Chinh’s unfortunate situation, actress Luong Thu Trang decided to support the family’s well-digging expenses. The actress shared that she hopes this small gift can help make the family’s life more convenient and less difficult.
Luong Thu Trang said she could not bear to see Chinh, thin and weak, still having to carry water from afar to help his mother. Above all, she felt even more heartbroken at the image of Chinh's 80-year-old grandmother and often sick mother having to live without water for many years.
The image of Chinh wearing an old shirt, having not had any new clothes for many years, only wearing clothes given by others, made MC Thanh Thao choke up. The MC was even more moved when she saw his mother having to shoulder everything by herself, in poor health but not daring to go to the hospital for fear of the cost.
Thanh Thao expressed her admiration for the poor mother's strong will, despite her illness, still trying to work to raise her children to be good people. As for Chinh, she appreciated his resilient spirit even more, lacking his father's love at an early age, growing up in poverty but never discouraged. His dream of becoming an interpreter not only surprised Thanh Thao but also deeply moved her, believing that it was a testament to his determination and desire to succeed.
In addition to sharing and encouraging the characters, the artists also contributed to the challenges, helping the children bring home valuable prizes from Hoa Sen Group . Accordingly, Bui Duong Chinh's family came in third, receiving a prize of 17 million VND. The remaining two situations are Dao Van Minh's family coming in second, receiving a prize of 23 million VND. Meanwhile, Lanh Duy Quang's family came in first, completing the special challenge and bringing home 50 million VND.
In addition to donating a well to Chinh's family, Luong Thu Trang also donated 5 million VND to each family. Singer Do Hoang Hiep also donated 2 million VND from his own pocket to each child. Singer Duc Phuc became a familiar benefactor when he donated 10 million VND to the 2nd and 3rd place families. Notably, the benefactors and the audience watching the show live also joined hands to support more than 200 million VND for the children in this episode.
The total amount of money given to all 3 families in this week's episode is estimated to be over 330 million VND, of which 80 million VND is a bonus from Hoa Sen Group. The sponsor Hoa Sen Group also supported replacing the roof for Bui Duong Chinh's family and building a new toilet for Dao Van Minh's family, with the hope of accompanying the characters to stabilize their lives.
The program Vietnamese Family Warmth is broadcast at 20:20 every Friday on HTV7 channel. The program is produced by Bee Media Company in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City Television, with the support of Hoa Sen Home Construction Materials & Interior Supermarket System (Hoa Sen Group) and Hoa Sen Plastic Pipe - Source of Happiness.
