In episode 6 of Sing! Asia 2025 , Phuong My Chi had an impressive confrontation with Hoang Linh - "Ma Vuong Tram" from Hong Kong - and won convincingly with the performance Bong phu hoa.
In this round, the "station kings" have the right to choose their opponents. Phuong My Chi decided to choose Hoang Linh - a contestant who stands out thanks to her good vocal technique and style that combines electronic jazz and Chinese folk music - to compete.

The song Bong phu hoa , inspired by the story Nguoi con gai Nam Xuong, was chosen by Phuong My Chi as the "trump card" in this appearance. Under the advice of DTAP, the arrangement was raised in tone at the climax to increase the emotional effect and create space for Phuong My Chi to fully demonstrate her technique as well as her ability to master the stage.
In particular, a part of the chorus was translated into Chinese so that the judges and international audiences could better understand the content. This translation was consulted and edited by a group of lecturers from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, to ensure that the spirit and literary value of the work is preserved.
According to Phuong My Chi, her choice to translate a piece of lyrics into Chinese does not dilute Vietnamese identity, but on the contrary, is a cultural bridge that helps international audiences gain deeper access to the spirit of Vietnamese works.
Phuong My Chi shared: "I'm not worried about the result, but just wondering if the Chinese pronunciation is clear enough. And more importantly, whether the spirit of Vietnamese culture can really touch the hearts of the judges and international audiences."
The arrangement also uses the Dan Co as the main sound axis. This characteristic sound evokes the Southern art space and contributes to recreating the chanting spirit in the performance.
As a result, Phuong My Chi won against her opponent Hoang Linh with 15/21 votes from the jury. The Vietnamese representative could not hide her surprise and emotion when her name was called.

Backstage, Phuong My Chi burst into tears of happiness and pride. Notably, Hoang Linh - "Ma Vuong Tram" from Hong Kong - took the initiative to hug and give many compliments to the singer born in 2003.
The Chinese representative said: "You are so good! Even though I don't understand the lyrics, I love your performance. I can't sing it, this song is really difficult."
Before that, Phuong My Chi and DTAP spent a lot of time analyzing their opponents to choose the right strategy. Choosing Hoang Linh as their opponent in the quarter-finals shows the confidence and bravery of the Vietnamese representative in the journey to conquer the audience with their own cultural mark.
