Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a televised statement that this was the third operation targeting Israel and that there would be more in the future.

Yahya Saree said the attacks would continue until "Israeli aggression" ends, referring to the war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

After an initial warning of a possible "hostile aircraft incursion" that prompted an emergency evacuation of residents of the tourist resort of Eilat on October 31, the Israeli military said "its systems identified an aerial target approaching Israeli territory."

“There was no threat or risk to civilians and the defensive action was successful,” the Israeli military added. There were no reports of any missiles or drones attacking Israeli territory from the Red Sea on October 31.

Yemen's Houthi leader, Abdel-Malek al-Houthi, said on October 10 that if the United States intervenes directly in the conflict in Gaza, the group will respond by firing drones and missiles, and taking other military options.

The movement has been fighting a Saudi-led coalition since 2015 in a conflict that has killed hundreds of thousands of people. During the fighting, Houthi forces have targeted strategic assets in the Gulf, most notably energy facilities in Saudi Arabia.

Separately, the Israeli military said it used its "Arrow" air defense system for the first time since the outbreak of the war with Hamas on October 7 to intercept a surface-to-surface missile fired toward its territory in the Red Sea.

Last week, Israel accused the Houthi movement of deploying drones that caused explosions in two Egyptian towns on the Red Sea, saying they were intended to attack Israel.

The Pentagon said a US Navy warship on October 19 intercepted three cruise missiles and several drones launched by the Houthi movement from Yemen that were likely headed toward Israel.
