The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that during the peak month of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement (from May 15 to June 15), the Ministry discovered and handled 14 cases of quarantine and food safety violations in the transportation and consumption of pork in Bac Giang and Quang Tri; products of unknown origin and origin, not ensuring food safety (crayfish in Quang Ninh; sausages, Chinese sausages, frozen poultry eggs at Lao Cai international border gate); smuggled lobster seeds in Ho Chi Minh City; animal feed violating quality as announced in Nghe An province.

Inspect violations in the production and trading of smuggled goods, commercial fraud, counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, in the fields of agriculture and environment.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment also organized an inspection and verification of the quarantine stamping of sick pigs of CP Vietnam Joint Stock Company, initially determined the cause, sent documents and requested the investigation agency (Ministry of Public Security) to investigate and handle according to its authority.

The Ministry is currently verifying the complaint about counterfeit goods regarding "fake circulation registration codes" for supplementary feed products for aquatic animals to handle them in accordance with the law.

Evaluating the peak month of implementation, Mr. Tran Thanh Nam - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment commented that the information and propaganda work during the peak period was timely, closely following the actual situation, had a deterrent effect, creating a change in awareness and action in law enforcement.

However, there is a situation where some organizations and individuals use tricks to avoid quality control inspection agencies, safety standards and other legal regulations, especially in the field of agricultural products and food, to make illegal profits from smuggling and producing fake and poor quality goods.

Besides, there is still abuse of chemicals, antibiotics, and banned substances in production and business activities, especially in small-scale, scattered livestock farming.

The management area is large, production is small and scattered. People's awareness of complying with the law in trading and transporting animals and animal products across the border is still limited.

The situation of illegal transportation of animals and animal products across the border is increasingly complicated. Smugglers have many forms of concealment and sophisticated tricks to illegally transport animals and animal products through border gates and openings. Therefore, it causes difficulties for functional forces in the work of inspection, control, detection and handling of violations...

In the coming time, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will continue to step up inspection activities on the implementation of public duties, promptly detect and strictly handle violators, especially officials, civil servants and public employees who show signs of degradation, negativity, and assist violators of the law with the motto "handling one case, warning the whole region, the whole field", "no forbidden areas, no exceptions".

The Ministry also continues to strengthen inspection, detection and strict handling of violations related to forestry, aquatic products, production and trade of fake plant varieties, livestock, fertilizers and pesticides. At the same time, control the use of growth stimulants for fruits, excessive use of chemicals to increase weight, prevent dehydration after thawing to deceive about volume, reduce quality;...

During the peak period, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment organized two inspection teams led by Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam to work with Lao Cai and Kien Giang provinces. Functional units under the Ministry also established 13 working teams to work and inspect in a number of key localities.

The meetings focused on food safety, fake, toxic food of unknown origin; forestry and aquatic products; production and trade of fake plant varieties, livestock, fertilizers and pesticides; the use of growth stimulants for fruits; the excessive use of chemicals to increase weight and prevent dehydration after thawing to deceive about volume and reduce quality.
