SpaceX founder Elon Musk announced on March 15 that he will launch the Starship spacecraft to Mars with the humanoid robot Tesla Optimus.
"Starship will depart for Mars late next year, carrying Optimus. If that landing goes well, human landings could begin as early as 2029, although 2031 is more likely," billionaire Elon Musk announced on social network X on March 15.

Starship is a spacecraft built by SpaceX. It has a two-part design, consisting of a spacecraft and a Super Heavy rocket booster that can return to the launch pad after launch. Starship plays an important role in Mr. Musk's long-term vision of sending people to Mars.
The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is also waiting for an improved version of Starship as a lunar lander for the Artemis program, with the goal of returning astronauts to the moon this decade.
Before SpaceX can launch those missions, however, Elon Musk's company must prove that the vehicle is reliable, safe for crews, and capable of refueling in orbit, which is crucial for missions that go far into space.
This month, SpaceX continued to test launch Starship, but the spacecraft exploded even though the Super Heavy rocket successfully returned to the ground.
Minutes after launch and separation from the rocket, the SpaceX spacecraft flipped uncontrollably before the signal was abruptly cut off.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said SpaceX will have to investigate before it can conduct another launch.
