Majestic bridges across valleys and lakes on the Vung Ang – Bung highway

(Dan Tri) – After more than 18 months of construction, the Vung Ang – Bung expressway through Ha Tinh is gradually taking shape. This project has many majestic viaducts crossing mountainous terrain, valleys, and lakes.

Bridge No. 1 is nearly 1km long and is located in Ky Hoa commune, Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh. This is one of the construction items on difficult terrain of the expressway project from Vung Ang (Ha Tinh) to Bung ( Quang Binh ).

The bridge connects two hills, spanning a valley with a basin terrain. The total investment value of the bridge is about 300 billion VND.

According to an engineer in charge of construction, bridge No. 1 has 22 girder spans, the highest pillar is up to 50m. Construction of this item requires a team of highly skilled engineers and workers, with strict standards in labor safety.

The Vung Ang – Bung Expressway winds through the Kim Son reservoir, Ky Hoa commune, Ky Anh town. This is a reservoir with a capacity of 17.5 million m3 of water.

The Kim Son Lake Overpass is about 1km long. In early July, the weather was extremely hot, and a group of workers were working hard on the lakebed to complete the last beams and construct reinforced concrete beams.

A male worker named Tuan (26 years old, from Phu Tho) is in charge of operating machinery to construct the Kim Son Lake overpass. Working under harsh weather conditions, Mr. Tuan wears protective gear and uses a tarpaulin to avoid the heat.

Thanks to the contractor’s efforts in 3 shifts and 4 crews over the past time, the shape of the expressway bridge over Kim Son Lake has gradually taken shape. This is one of the highlights on the Vung Ang – Bung expressway with majestic natural scenery.

According to design, this highway section has a scale of 4 lanes, a roadbed width of 17m, and a design speed of 80km/h.

Passing Kim Son Lake are overpasses crossing the valley, through the mountainous terrain leading to Deo But tunnel (the only mountain tunnel on the North-South highway through Ha Tinh).

The shape of viaduct No. 5 leading to Deo But tunnel is gradually revealed with the construction phase of the bridge surface almost completed.

The North-South Eastern Expressway, phase 2021-2025, the Vung Ang - Bung section is over 55km long, passing through two provinces of Ha Tinh (12.9km) and Quang Binh (42.44km). The project has a total investment of VND 12,548 billion, with Project Management Board 6 (Ministry of Transport) as the investor. The project started construction on January 1, 2023, expected in December 2025.
