Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi is Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee.

On the morning of August 25, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo 's decision on personnel work.

Attending the conference were Mr. Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat; Mr. Le Minh Hung, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee and representatives of leaders of central agencies and Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Tran Cam Tu, Standing member of the Secretariat, informed at the conference: Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee. The Politburo's assignment decision will be presented to Mr. Nghi this afternoon in Hanoi .

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi is the Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, replacing Mr. Tran Luu Quang, who was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

The Central Policy and Strategy Committee is an advisory body, assisting the Party Central Committee, directly and regularly the Politburo and the Secretariat in leading and directing socio-economic development; orienting the building and perfecting of economic institutions, planning guidelines, policies, strategies, major and important measures on socio-economy.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi was appointed as Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, 49 years old, from Ca Mau province, has a PhD in construction engineering and senior political theory.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi started his career as a lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture, then became Head of the Department of Postgraduate Training Management and International Relations, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture.

In November 2011, Mr. Nghi became Deputy Minister of Construction. In February 2014, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi transferred to Kien Giang province, holding the position of Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. In October 2015, he was elected Secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee.

In October 2020, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi returned to work at the Ministry of Construction, holding the position of Deputy Minister, then Minister of Construction.

From January 2025 to present, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi has been the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
